    Thank you for this lovely video. I would also like to add to this: 1:40 also spanish and italian a lot, recently many teens learn japanese and korean as well. there's no need to avoid conversations from the communist past, usually there are old ppl (60+) who fancied those times, and young people who fancy democracy, but in general we all agree that the communist era was a pile of crap Regarding the cash thing, yes it is good to have some cash as in any country. Personally, I have payed with cash 3 times in the last ~5 years. We also don't expect you to tip, if you wanna do it please do it because the service was that good, don't just tip because it's "expected".

    Great advice altogether ! One minor correction, the tap water it's fine by all health standards, in newer flat complexes that might house an AirBNB the plumbing it's new, but in older buildings that plumbing was probably rotten. I live in Cluj in a newly built apartment complex, I can trust the water that comes within the legal health norms (I tested it). But I also own a old 1980's commie flat in the city and that water it's only good for taking a shower as the central plumbing was never changed since the flat got built (old poor pensioner neighbours), I never used it for cooking, I had a kitchen reverse osmosis filter where the filter would be done in less than 3 months, because of all the rust and sediments. When in Romania my advice would be bottled water (all of them are fine), as almost it is spring water, you would rarely see treated tap water bottled.

Been doing Milton Keynes to London every weekend, delays every time, on arrival too...but nice applogies though...feels like Romania allover again -Potholes...REALLY??? Can i show you Milton Keynes side streets? Any side streets... And this city is just 65 years old...I can only imagine older cities in the rest of England... -Lastly...petty theft, theres less in big cities of Romania and less violence (domestic or public) than in England Honestly, sometimes it feels like i traded down...I do love the weather though... Some handy tips there but here is one not covered. It's almost embarrassing asking this, but you know, as one gets older body parts tend to play up! So here is the question. Are Toilets generally clean and well maintained in bars, restaurants and hotels? Also for a solo traveller how long is not too long and not too short to spend there. The rule of thumb for my personal travels is ten days.

  • @ChrisKermis

    @ChrisKermis

    10 ай бұрын

    No problem, I found that they were always clean and well maintained when I was there in bars, restaurants and tourist sites like museums. I stayed in an apartment but can't imagine them being bad in hotels. In terms of how long to stay, it depends on your itinerary. On my last trip I spent about 9 days in Sibiu and Brasov, then one week in Bucharest. This last time was one week in Cluj-Napoca. A week was more than I needed for Cluj, but I did have days where I just worked.

  • @nydydn

    @nydydn

    Generally speaking, toilets are clean, but don't always count on it. E.g. toilets in trains are more likely to be dirty than clean. Toilets in restaurants are maybe 9 out of 10 times clean, and in bars maybe only 7-8 times out of 10 clean. Big gas station toilets, if you choose to rent a car, are also usually clean, small gas stations are hit and miss. So if you'll be in Romania for a short time, you are unlikely to see more than 1-2 dirty toilets, more if you're unlucky, none if you're lucky.
