Romania, Transylvania Hay Camp 2015 Part 1 (of 3)
Watch traditional hay making in Gyimes, Transylvania, where flower-filled hay meadows are cut with scythes and raked with Uncle Viktor's hand made wooden rakes before the hay is brought down to the village on horse-drawn carts. Horses and people work hard in this unspoilt village of traditional wooden houses and stone roads. A colourful village festival highlights strong senses of pride and community.

Great! I love your movies. Old tradition for me is much healthy than „new civilisation” and more happy.
Good hearted, traditional, hard-working people. My family and I often eat with some bread makers in this town. Very beautiful landscape.

Glad to know this is ingrained into my blood and not just a pointless hobby as most think. I am so proud to be from this amazing country and a hard working horsewoman. Even after being adopted by an American family. Thank God for my heritage as a slovic romanian.

Maybe youre watching Because its such a beautiful country side Rolling hills blue skies seemely Friendly people that work together well. The country side is so Beautiful its almost Romantic. The Hot food and fresh Sandwitches almost made me hungry. And did you notice the Healthy people? The work seemed healthy and good Exercise. However i congradulate the 👦 Guy with the motorized hay cutter... Noticed that the hills are steep. Is that why the hay cutting is done mostly by hand?
This is one of the most wonderful film that I have seen, this is like those Jacques Cousteau's documentals. Congrats!
This video was first shown about 7 years ago. I used to work in loose hay and haul it to a barn and throw it in. Difference is though we had a Tractor cut it first so we did not scythe the hay down . We are in 2023 now I hope these hard working folks have a Tractor by now and even a Hay Baler so they would not have to work so hard, Much Respect.

MacVille , It may look like a beautiful way of life but I can assure you from my experience as a child in Britain during the 1960s ( yes ..as late as that ) all fit adults and children helped during haymaking , it felt like hell . Every part of our bodies hurt , blisters on hands and feet ..rashes all over arms ..legs ..back of the neck ..midge bites because anti-bite stuff hadn't been invented. .sunburn for same reason . If these had been around they were probably too expensive , several people did cut themselves quite badly but ..unless almost fatal ..we just carried on , we children never used the scythe but the bales of hay were nasty itchy heavy things . All through the year there was backbreaking work to be done so I really wish you well because I have a jolly good memory , nowadays in Britain and the Republic of Ireland things are a lot easier but still backbreaking work for farmers .Rose coloured spec's don't work on me at all .
