During World War II, one of the worst massacres of the conflict took place in Eastern Europe, in Romania's second city of Iași. A tenth of the city's population - more than 13,000 people - was murdered in the space of a few days, simply because they were Jews. More than 80 years after the Iasi pogrom, most people in Romania know little about these atrocities, and the country's far-right party is gaining in strength - as are those who want to rewrite history. @@ZaKrakilla didnt they mean in the axis territory. The germans killed the jews in the SSR while they hold that territory. So it was technically in germany. Same with poland. And italy didnt kill the jews, bulgaria barely did, finland barely did. Romania was one of the biggest EU axis members. By logic i dont see how it wouldnt work out. And japanese was busy killing Chinese people

In May 1939, the German liner St. Louis sailed from Hamburg, Germany, to Havana, Cuba. The 937 passengers were almost all Jewish refugees. Cuba's government refused to allow the ship to land. The United States and Canada were unwilling to admit the passengers.

@@hj8750 A pogrom is a violent riot incited with the aim of massacring or expelling an ethnic or religious group, particularly Jews. The term entered the English language from Russian to describe 19th- and 20th-century attacks on Jews in the Russian Empire (mostly within the Pale of Settlement).
Very good report, pleased to hear from 2023 the history of holocaust will be learned in school, a small step forward !
