IU actually wrote a lot of songs which were about or inspired by her friends or family, here's some: Close friends (Drama, Celebrity, You, and some unreleased songs she wrote sent to that specific friend only) Mom (Shh) Grandma (Knees - about IU being tired and wanting to rest on her grandma's knees again like she did when she was a child since IU grew up with her grandma, her grandma's still healthy btw) Even haters have one (BBIBBI) lol

Actually, you are not that wrong either if this song is actually about heartbreak.....despite the overwhelmingly speculation that this song or the Love Poem one is about her friends who unalived (later unalived in the case of Love Poem) themselves...it's still a speculation as IU herself never specifically mentioned those songs in that light.... If one knew IU, she always kept to herself in regards to the actual meaning of her lyrics....and somehow, her songs could be interpreted differently to different audience too....

I'm surprise to learn that Lean does not like songs that give the feelings. Cause that was not the impression I got from your reaction to Love win all. Anyway, some of IU sad songs are deceptively upbeat like this song so as long as you don't try to understand her lyric/mv, you will not know it is a sad song.

I don't like feelings of sadness related to missing a loved one. It's too raw for me in relation to my brother and some recent family members. I buried my gran just in december so hence why I am anti sad song right now xx

Song titles: Lullaby (having your final conversation and farewell to your loved in their dream before thay wake up) Love Letter (about one half of an elderly couple leaving the world first and leaving a final love letter for the other half) Winter Sleep (contains the story of your 1st year welcoming yourself alone after sending off one of your beloved family member) Next Stop (a song about wondering if you will meet the person you meet at the next bus stop) All lyrics by IU and all were penned beautifully and could have been appreciated even better by i-fans if one understands korean since some depth and beauty are lost in translation. Anyways, thank you for this reaction and looking forward for your next IU content 😊 Edit: btw, that's all her songs that I can remember which have that topic or element. As for Love Poem and Dear name, for me they're not included since they are more like encouraging or comforting songs. Like Love Poem is sending strength to someone who's going a hard time and Dear Name for those who seems forgotten or not appreciated/ not on the spotlight, something like that.

But in all seriousness, this hits close to home for Lean as she recently lost her gran in December. And the loss of her brother has also been a traumatic event. We react to plenty of emotional songs but the losing of a loved one is still very fresh for Lean. We are not required to both put all songs on our main playlists as we all have our own journeys and some songs hit closer to home than others. Let’s respect Lean’s right to want to avoid music currently that reminds her of that pain. 👍 - Loo
