IU has to film her new drama in the winter and got a cold several times while preparing her new album too. She’s working so hard. I don’t think she was in the good shape on the days they shot LWA but her mind is strongest part that hold her got through all obstacles. I recommend you watch IU’s Love wins all recording behind. As an author, you will be amazed with IU’s lyrics and storytelling. She has won top awards for her lyrics - in addition to all of her other awards for music and her acting. Yes - she did have a very rough debut stage, which really shook her…and on another early live contest show performance only had one fan in attendance…but that fan could be heard over the other voices, which has similarly stuck with IU and cemented her unwavering loyalty to her fans. As an author - be sure to check out Love Poem… if you understand the meaning, it is a song that will take hold of your soul

If I remember correctly, she debuted when she was 15 years old. She also went through 20 auditions at that time and failed every one of them.

Regarding IU’s songs, there are three relatively complete stories related to the expression of love: (They were all with a MV) 1. "You & I" and "Above the Time", they are a series story of a pair of lovers who cannot meet because they belong to different time and space. The latter is a sequel specially made by IU to finish the story. 2. "Through the Night" and "With A Determined Heart To Forget You". This is the story of a young, innocent girl who can only place her heart in longing because she can no longer see her former lover. 3. "Ending Scene". A story about the reluctance and complicated emotions caused by the end of a relationship.

In fact IU was not only jeered she was called names, like pig, on her debut stage. The song she sang was/is a beautiful song and showed off her voice well. But it was about a relationship break up, which kpop fans weren't interested in hearing from a 15 year old female singer. They had make an MV for the song as well, which is interesting but not really related to the song, and after her debut they withheld the MV. And released it 3 years later after she became a national star with 2 #1 hits in 2010, Good Day and Nagging. IU debuted in 2008, 10 months after signing with a small company, when she was 14. She started auditioning when she was 13. And she was rejected 20 times and scammed out of money by fake agents at least once, before sign with LOEN. That tells you something about her as a person. I personal don't know and have never known 13 year old who presisted after failing to make the cut even a handful of times let alone 20. And then she is booed, peered and call names on her debut stage at 15 and continued on. After her debut the took a more traditional route and IU entered her Cutzy phase. She took over control of her music in 2013 and that resulted in her first album where she wrote all the songs, composed them and Produced the Album, resulting in her first Songwriter of the Year, Producer of the Year, Composer of the Year, Artist of the Year awards. Since 2010, the 1st year where Korea had it own charting services, IU has had over 32 #1 hits, more than twice as many as any other artist (group or soloist). Her songs have been on the charts in Korea for over 700 weeks also twice as long as anyother artist. She has won over 100 music shows a record. And with this release she ties BTS for the number of songs reaching #1 on the day they were released. No other female singer in Korea as ever had 1 song accomplished that feat. In Sept of 2022 she became the 1st female artist (soloist or group) to headline a concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul. The 2 day concert sold out 90,000 tickets in 30 minutes with a staggering 500,000 people waiting in the online queue. She has been to the US once in 2014 for a Kpop convention. She found the experience frustrating because her English was virtually non existence at the time so she could not effectively communicate with her audience with is a significant part of her concerts. She stated in an interview that she would learn English before she returned. She hired an English teacher. Then Covid. But this year she has her world tour that includes 6 stops in the US. The only thing left on my bucket list just became possible.

I just wanted to note that right at the end of this short, like in any other marked "[IU TV]" videos you can find information of a missing child, IU has been doing this for years now. The purpose is to obviously help in finding those kids. That is one of the many ways IU gives back, every year on her birthday she makes an important contribution to worthy causes too.

I really like his reactions, I like the boys but I feel a genuine passion in V when he wants to act, it was good to hear from him, tell your friend to take it easy. The new drama that IU will act in is with Park BoGum and has been filmed since December, it could have been with V but I think it would be difficult for him... but I still want to see a happy ending, is that too much to ask? I would write entire scripts for this mv. Suggestion: V's Behind the scene is really cool and the making off of IU recording the song that only lasted a little bit is also incredible. Suchwita and Palette with V are wonderful, it was there that we realized how they shine together. Missing and praying for V in an environment as dangerous and cold as the border. My daughter works i korea and it can get to -20 at night. A few times this winter it didnt get above -7 through the day and that was in Seoul so goodnes knows how cold it wasin the mountains

From 31:10 Unfortunately it’s real incident. Depute stage memory that IU mentioned ,happened in 2008 IU first stage show. Numbers of Fans from boy bands/girl groups who were the audiences there shouted loudly to IU with terrible words , ashamed her as a pig,assaulted her singing abilities while live broadcasting on TV. The worst was her mom was there too. 😢

That’s horrifying. She’s so strong to fight past that kind of trauma. That’s made us both love her more as we’ve both experienced bullying as teenagers. It’s so damaging. And I can’t imagine how that must’ve felt in a debut stage.

IU & V lost close mutual friends due to depression and netizens hate remarks online, they both as well have suffered the same. Some people overcome it with support and love wins all. I’ve been a fan for IU about as long as I’ve been an ARMY for BTS. Having won as many awards as an Solo Artist. I loved your reaction. I too still cry when I hear her voice for this song. It definitely gives you the deep down feels. Thanks again I’m looking forward to more.

I heard you make the comment in the MV, regarding the topic of the MV being about how disabled people are treated. But the fact is this video IS NOT about that, not at all. The claim that IU is deaf. This claim is proven false from the: opening scene. There is a very specific reason why which I will get to later. Claim IU is deaf. In the very 1st scene when they stop to catch their breath, IU is the 1st reacts to the sound of the Cube passing overhead. No de -af person would have done so. Then they enter the building looking around & they both react to the sound of the cube above them at the exact same time. Again no deaf person would have reacted to that. This so clearly makes the point that IU can hear. THE LIP RING. IU is has a lip ring. Why do you think that is? It is not a fashion statement. How do you communicate to your audience that a person who has an injury that is impacting an ability that you can't see? Neither hearing loss or losing your voice are visible things you can tell by looking at someone. So what you do is create a device to draw attention to the area that is impacted. In this case they use several devices to communicate this. 1st is the lip ring that draws attention to her mouth. Being unable to speak is as much a reason to use sign language & as being deaf. 2nd when IU is viewed through the camera lens the lip ring is gone. Why? To show that in whatever world the camera lens is showing us, the past, a wished for present etc IU can speak. With V's vision you see his eye is injured & through the lens his eye is ok, we can see that. In IU's case the lip ring is the device they are using to communicate that. Its that simple. 3rd in the wedding scene IU is holding a microphone & singing. How much more obvious can they be. If hearing was the issue then they would have had her do something that would show she could hear in the fantasy scenes, like say put on headphones etc. Why Correcting the deaf v mute issue is important. Being big BTS fans you are unlikely to know that IU has been dealing with an ear issue for awhile now. I don't know the name of the condition but what happens is the tube from the middle ear to the throat, which is closed the vast majority of the time, remains open. This can cause extreme discomfort in the ear and makes it almost impossible to hear yourself talk or sing. If you watch any live performance of her, like her show Palette & some of her concerts you will notice that she frequently removes the ear piece from her left ear & at times she grabs her neck on the side & back to try and reduce the discomfort. So why does it make a difference if she is deaf or mute? Well, I personally believe that it is because IU did not want to give even the slight suggestion that her hearing was worst. Or to create any material for possible rumors about it. This also points out how badly some people are really paying attention. Most come to the deaf conclusion when they are at the table and uses sign language. Why so many immediately go to IU being deaf when being mute requires sign language just as much, but then failing to take in or understand all the other sign post they placed along the way. I understand that it can take multiple viewing to catch all the details. Why group membership & treatment of those groups is not what the video's message is about. I have wondered how many times IU has to say the word Love in her song before people get the message? And in turning the story into one about the treatment of disabled or marginalized people does the exact opposite. The first thing it does is divides people into separate groups. Disabled persons v. "normal" persons, exactly the opposite of what disabled want. To be viewed as something less than "normal". In fact because this claim was pickup & believed to be true disabled people got upset at the video claiming that IU and V were mocking them in the fantasy scenes where they appeared "normal" and they were happy, enjoying life even though they were being hunted. When they were shown in reality with their injuries (disabilities) they were not happy. So in the context of disabilities the video takes on the message that disabled people can't be happy & enjoy life like "normal" people. Where exactly is the Love in that storyline? By dividing people into groups also turns the disabled people into victims, to be pitied. No disabled person wants to be viewed as a victim or pitied, regardless if they were born with a disability or it happened later in life. Pitied is NOT being Loved. Other problems with that narrative. If the story is really about disabled persons & a society that wants to exterminate then, which is the only conclusion you can reach if that is your take, because that is in fact what happens. Then it begs the question where are all the other people, the "normal" people? I have heard people who make this, then also state that they appear to be the only 2 people left. Now both of these claims can't be true. If the Cubes are representing society & are therefore only taking the disabled, why are the cubes destroying the entire city? This makes NO sense at all. And finally where are all the items that disabled people need and use in there daily lives, things like wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, earing aids, artificial limbs etc. None of these things are present and there should be a big pile of them as well. Just like the holocaust with its images of piles of clothes, shoes, Jewelry. I even heard a reactor, claim. the Cubes seem to sense those with disabilities. This claim is nonsensical. And has no basis in anything in the MV. But appears to be an effort to answer the question how does a cube know a person is disabled especially when the disability isn't obvious. Well the cube must be able to sense it then. But the\ Cube fails in sensing anyone abled or disabled When it passes over then twice at the start. Another reactor made a similarly outrageous claim that the restaurant scene with the figures in black cloth represented all the people who had bullied IU & V and that they were getting their revenge. But this claim makes my point, that when you separate people into groups of "marginalized" v. Normal you automatically change the message of LOVE to one of finger pointing blaming "them" etc. Revenge, has nothing to do with Love. What does the Producer and Songvwriter have to say? IU is both the song writer and the producer of the MV. Meaning that the concept, storyline & message of the MV are totally & solely her domain, not the directors (his job is to bring IU's vision to life) not BTS's they had nothing to do with production of the MV. IU posted a letter on her company website. In it she writes " I am telling the story of people who struggle to LOVE, even when the world gets in the way." She also states the love is invisible (meaning it does not have a physical form) so thinking it can over come a physical evil seems ridiculous. But that hate is always alone. It consumes everything and then consumes itself, while "love is relentlessly together" meaning it takes at least two people to have feel love. So the idea that love can win is possible. Not one word in IU's letter says or even suggest that this is about group identity, group membership or the treatment of people belonging to certain groups. In fact she states she is dedicating this song to her fans, b/c for reasons she doesn't understand they have always been on her side. So is IU really dedicating a song to her fans that is about the bad treatment of disabled people or but loving despite everything? Love does not belong to one group, it doesn't benefit one group especially to the exclusion of another. It doesn't seek revenge, fairness, equity, equality. Love is love it cares about nothing else. Thank you for taking the time to read this & I hope it has at the least made people think. All this being said I look forward to your watching your IU journey. There is plenty of room in the IU rabbit hole, which is unavoidable.

Hi there, if you read our comments on that video, it says we made an assumption and later realized she was mute vs deaf. We react initially to a video knowing nothing about it and going by what we interpret and feel. That observation was right at the start before watching the details for the full video. Hence, this is a 'reaction' video. Later, we found out how close we were to being right. Which is the fun part. Later, we continue to look into something or have viewers give us info on what we watched. We are forever learning. I am disabled (Lean), so I obviously interpreted it in my own way and Loo hers. I also have hearing issues and am an ex idol too. Also, in the UK, where I am from, the term 'deaf' is given to hearing-impaired people. A spectrum that ranges from partial hearing to no hearing at all; therefore, the language does not mean the same as in other places. Deaf here means someone with hearing issues but might still have hearing ability. So, saying she was deaf meant she could be on the spectrum of hearing impaired and might hear the cube if it was loud enough. Later, I found out she was mute. As for us taking the extermination of only disabled people, we actually did not. We said the cubes were exterminating people who did not meet society's standards, and as no one ever meets another person's standards or criticism, it means no one would be spared. That's why there was no one else left. I think you misunderstood our meaning there. We said the cube was seeking out all flawed people...meaning all people. Because no one is perfect. We also heavily said this was a love story (seeing one another as perfect through the lens of love) and could be interpreted multiple ways - love vs. singling out disability vs. humans being judged...those were 3 examples of what we could see it could mean. We did say it seemed mostly about viewing through love. We did not say specifically which one we decided it was meant to mean as we did not know. We said it could be any of those 3. Our job is to pull out all possible meanings when we react and say what we feel. Which we did. We talk it out and then rely on our viewers to tell us if they, too, saw those things. Later, we usually also look up the director's notes or the artist's true meaning. All of that would ruin our first reaction if we had researched first. Also, Loo is a huge BTS fan, not me. I am only starting to become part of the army through this journey of learning about them, and I am a music lover who used to work in the industry as an idol. So, we are digging more into musicians we find we like, such as IU. Hope that cleared a lot of that up for you and you continue to enjoy our future IU reactions xx

Loo here. :) Everything is up for interpretation. I don't think there is a wrong or right. I don't think we were far off when referring what the director said: "On the same note, the cube's function in Love Wins All has been the most talked-about subject, and director Um Tae-hwa refuted all fan theories by explaining what role it plays. In Love Wins All, IU can't hear and Taehyung is blind in one eye, therefore, this adds to the population of differently-abled people who are often marginalized." Thanks so much for your input. It's much appreciated. For me, the conversation around ableism needs to be loud and I like that it was intentional in the MV, as per what Um Tae-hwa intended. :)

And I certainly do understand that a reaction to a video after one viewing, especially IU's videos which can take many viewing before catching all the clues, metaphors and symbolism. I certainly have always had to watch her MV's over and over and watch others reactors etc. Like a book written by an author that is communicating a specific message, I believe that there is one primary message that is being delivered and figuring that out is important. It is after all the very function of the what the lyristis is trying to communicate. There are generally agreed upon primary themes to works of art, be they literature, poems, songs etc. They way the impact people and the depth of meaning taken away certainly varies with the individual. Talking about what they mean being able to support the claim with actual evidence, in this case the song and the MV, is part of the learning to understand what the message or lesson the author is trying to impart. IU's song Eight is another example of a song containing deep meaning, that got off to bad start because people took part of a sentence or when IU said the song was part of her age series, they jumped to the conclusion that Eight would be exactly like her other 2 songs where she talks about where she is emotionally, what she likes and dislikes, etc. And Eight was very different from those songs in every way possible. Why it does deal with what she was dealing with in year 28th year the events that put her in thisxdepression occurred during her 27th, has shown in the video with 27 pearls attached to her arm. When IU uses in the video things that she identifies with the people she is singing about, the fact that these references are known to many as connected to certain people, IU doesn't have to say their name. But because she doesn't some people dismiss what is plainly obvious. Those people could and do claim that it is there interpretation. But in some doing they are disrespecting those people and IU message. One reactor I watched recently, said that these MV's usually don't have Englisg subtitles and therefore did even check. He watched the video and at the end said that the song was great but didn't fit the images on the video. That the concept was off and could have been done differently, and it didn't make any sense. I commented to him that there were subtitles available and if he was going to watch IU MV's just once he would be betterboff just watching her live performances. Because virtually all IU videos are about things for which the images on screen are only metaphors for. And it takes some thinking and investigating to understand what IU is trying to tell us. Her song BBIBBI is perhaps her most complex song. While the lyrics are pretty clear every prop and all the use of color has a meaning. IU uses creativity and genius she puts into her creative work, be it lyrics or MV's is next level. And to not try and understand a appreciate what is being shown and demonstrated is to disrespect the artist. Song people listen to Eight and hear an upbeat positive song, which if you don't know what the song is actually about does fit. And IU wrotevit that way because she didn't want the memory of her friends, in the end to be sad but rather to celebrate their lives. But to get to the celebration you have to deal with the tragedy and the pain caused to those who are left behind. And to miss that part of the anti suicide message is in fact a tragedy. Thanks again for reacting to IU and helping bring her the attention she so richly deserves.
