Lovely job most person prefer to blow out and flat iron but roller setting is much safer and healthier for the hair especially if you are on a hair journey with the goal of having long healthy relaxed hair.

Hi Betty. Maybe you can try Lotta body setting lotion. Be sure to check the labels. Lotta body has a foam wrap which is different from the setting lotion. I used it for a while and it worked well for me.

Thanks!! I would like to get an advice from you as I realized you maintain your hair healthy and beautiful.🤩 My hair is curly, thin and 3b/3c. I've been natural for 4 years, but I want to change to straight hair. When I used to rollerset or blowdry it, it used to look soft and nice. My only concern is my front part, as the weather here is humid and I sweat a lot, this frontal part immediately looks rebel and ugly. Can I just relax my fontal part ( my bangs and edges ) and leave the rest of the hair like natural? Thanks for your response.

  • @therelaxedafro7539

Hey, Thank you! Trying my best with the hair i do have lolz. I've seen videos on KZread of persons relaxing only the hair along the perimeter of their head and it seems to work for them. It can be done but if your fighting with humidity you might have to relax it straight. Some persons relax their hair or texturize it but because it's not fully straight, when humidity hits, the hair still reverts similar to what you are trying to fix. The danger of relaxing your hair straight though is that it's more fragile and can break easier so its possible that after a while you would notice your edges are quite short. Heat training those sections might be better than relaxing. Check out videos about heating training on KZread and do some more research.

Your hair is beautiful. Also, just wanted to say that water cannot break the hydrogen bond in hair, only a chemical like relaxer, color ect can break or "relax the bond. Water will help the hair to have memory so it will remain in the shape you dried it.

I am not a cosmetologist however I have studied cosmetology ( even biochemistry & pharmacology)🙂 I got my information from Milandy's Standard Textbook of Cosmetology and will hold firm to my statement. If you have that book you can read more there or check out this free link: designessentials.com/hair-composition/. Relaxers break disulfide bonds in the hair. Disulfide bonds and hydrogen bonds are just two of the different bonds in hair.
