"The purest form of the sport is still king and thats the basics"! As simple as true.

And I thought friday was high day
I have seen this three times over a period of 5 years, and I keep getting the 'cool older brother of a friend' more and more.
He is so right about basics. When I was at the Gracie Academy back in the nineties, there were rare opportunities to be taught by Rorion or Helio and they always surprised us not with new moves we hadn't seen but with new ways to use what we THOUGHT we already knew.
15:01 "I learned how to pass from Ralph. That's why I look like this. I'm using my face when I'm passing" I literally almost pissed my self
My first lesson in '96 was with Cesar and Kurt, then a blue belt. Kurt took full mount, and then they told me to get out. Of course I spazzed and couldn't budge him. That led into learning Oopa and on from there. Great lesson. Always a gentleman. Kurt's right, the academy was loaded with talent. Many of the guys were black belts from different arts or had their own schools. I don't think I tapped anybody for over a year!!!
Second time i've watched this, and forgot how awesome Kurt is!
This is seriously the best episode. If you visit the bay, DO NOT miss the opportunity to train with Kurt and his guys. They are tough, but rolling with them and being taught techniques by Kurt is FUCKING AWESOME.
1:56 Dude in the background knocks over the foam rollers, looks down and just walks away... no hespect
