the best rolex ever made....after this model....rolex went off the rails a bit....only the YM @ 40mm can stand up to this watch, but its not a tool watch as we know....but who used tool watches? No one.....so the YM is the thing now....but still....this sub we see here....is the BOMB thank You sir

16610 the Best Sub

I have worn my 1993 holes case tritium for nearly thirty years. Its superb and runs at +1 second per day with only one service over that time. Wash it in soap and warm water and its immaculate and despite having many watches it is my Monday to Friday beater watch and is never taken off during that period. The 3135 movement is all the movement you will ever needi n a mechanical timepeice fotr me...period!

I have this watch. The Swiss only dial from 1999. I love it. I can’t be any happier with it

My grandfather had a Submariner that he paid $900 for. He sent it in for service, had all kinds of issues with quality and the movement stopping and for some reason Rolex replaced it for free and gave him a newer model 16610 (I'm assuming as $900 seems low for a 16610). He was in the military maybe got it cheap there I don't know. Anyways after he died in 2010 my grandmother wanted to get their money back and sold it to my dad for $900. When he can't read it anymore he will sell it to me, for $900. And my future kid can buy it for $900 and so on... And it's the perfect "one watch"

Amazing story, and a great heirloom piece too. With proper maintenance, this watch and its bulletproof 3135 movement will last for generations to come.

Indeed. Buddies I have from law school have multiple Vacheron's in their stables but I'm just a humble public servant and it is my "one watch". I got my 5-digit sub in 2008, just as the 6-digit ones came out because I didn't like where they were going stylistically. Still very happy with it and my son will look good sporting it one day.

Bought my first 16610 in the trade for £1200 god I miss them days used to trade them for 2500 on average now they are nearly 8k not worth that but then they always will be a £2500 to me having sold over 20 of them by the way I am talking about 2003 so I do understand the priced now lol glad I kept my steel zenith daytona though as I always knew I had a deal at £2700 back then

Ive been wild about living with mine since the same year but is a 2004. I wear a Tudor 1926 most days, travel with a Santos and have a bit of a varied experience of a collection . There’s one very specific Rolex that I hardly see displayed at ADs and have never seen on YT nor online retailers that I think so perfectly expresses Rolex as a maker of restrained tasted dress watches rather than tools better than anything else in their Oyster Case program. It’s the Day-Date white gold or platinum with striped dial and President Bracelet. Gosh is that stately.

Still the prettiest of the contemporary (that’s post 1980s for me) Subs.

Street cop or detective? Rough and tumble get something you can slam into the pavement and not care. Specifically it will take lots of shock(including pistol shooting) but the finish and crystal will really show physical impacts.

Wow...first! That aside, sub is always going to be a wish for my wrist. Really need a diver to swap out with my Santos XL

I have this exact model and love mine. I know these are built like tanks but I feel bad wearing it everyday. Do you all wear your sub as an everyday?

The current model doesn’t use the supercase. The post 2020 Submariner has thinner lugs.
