Rolex Submariner 116610LN brutally used and tested for 6 years

See this watch at a Florida beach when it was brutally tested with sand sun and ocean • Rolex Submariner 11661...
See the latest update on what it looks like after dragging it in the sand for another year • UPDATE: Rolex Submarin...
I have posted a detailed review of this very same watch on the beach in Florida. I detailed what brutal sand, ocean, and sun do (or not) to the watch. This is one tough wrist watch for sure. I use it day in and out. I sometimes alternate it with my Panerai but I mostly use my Submariner.
People asked for a closer video to show blemishes and scratches on the watch. It is about 5 to 6 years old now and my careless usage not even taking a toll on the watch. As per my conversation with Rolex, I do not even have to send it in for any maintenance. You only send your watch to Rolex if you have any problems with your movement or not keeping time properly or if you have physical damage. No more scheduled maintenances on Submariners at least.
First of all I will never get this watch polished. I like what I am seeing. My watch developed a character with blemishes and small dings and dongs. Bezel and sapphire crystal are in exceptional shapes. ANd I mean like day one!
See the details yourself.

My 116610 Sub between my grandfather and myself has quite a history and a story to tell about it just looking at it! My Sub has scrapes, a few small chips of steel that have come off, scratched glass, tattered bezel and I love it. I wear that Rolex to do almost any job I have to do and the thing is a tank!

The bezel still looks like new. I was looking for a stainless steel Daytona in local Rolex dealer and happen to pull out the new sub there. Put them side to side, bezels looks identical even with my abuse on mine. The more I abuse it, the more my watch seems and feels indestructible and builds character. I wouldn't change the way I wear even if I could go back to day one! Loving it everyday use including gym :)

I don't baby the watch by any means, but am subconsciously careful not to bang it around on anything... For what it's worth (since I've owned both ceramic and pre-ceramic subs) it seems to me that the steel on the ceramic sub is softer and more prone to scratches, gouges and chipping. My 16610 easily beats the 116610 in this regard. Just my 2 cents. Hope your daughter enjoys the watch as much as you have!

Looks like it's "folded" when taken off and "stored" and/or worn with other jewelry such as bracelets and/or cufflinks and of course there's no "sending back to Rolex" any watch with an "ETA" movement that can be replaced for way less than "sending" it back to "Rolex" or even a "watchmaker" for proper "servicing" which costs a minimum of $50/hr. and requires at least half a "day" of labor even for a quality pocket watch of 16 or 18 size and only gets more expensive and time consuming as the movement gets smaller and "mass produced". Quality pocket watch movements were/are only produced in small "production runs" on a "demand" basis in order to prevent a loss in tooling precision and "watchmaker" attention span from adversely affecting "precision". And CASES always were "disposable" and were/are not "part" of the "watch". Until very late in U.S. quality pocket-watch production and we'll into wristwatch production, quality pocket watch manufacturers didn't even MAKE cases and did not "case" movements at the "factory". All quality pocket watches were "custom made" and watchmaker started with the movement the customer "needed" to achieve the desired/required "accuracy" and "precision" and dials and hands were chosen the same way. The CASE was typically the last "component" chosen and was selected based upon tge environment the "watch" was going to be used in and how it was going to be "carried". Meaning on a "chain" or "fob" and whether in the "watch pocket" of a suit vest or overalls or work pants. Those factors also determined the movement "type" whether "open-face" or "hunting" so were primary factors but "open-face" movements were the most precise and the highest "quality" because hunting "flip open" cases with their springs and latching mechanisms and "press fit" covers subject movements to "shocks" and "stresses" that preclude maximum precision and "accuracy" without the complete "watch" being too large, heavy, complex and expensive for "pocket" carrying.
