I have my two tone bluesy since 2001. I actually choose to buy bluesy back then when there was no waiting list on both watches. After 20 years, still love the bluesy, and I have received offer several times to buy it off me at 50-60% plus of the original price I paid for it.

Excellent video, Guy. I know the stainless steel Submariner is arguably the more “classic” version, but I must say, the two-tone blue dial is genuinely one of my all-time favorite designs ever. So gorgeous. Cheers, my friend.

@ Ben Woodruff Depends on the model. Not all Subs are statement pieces. Black dial SS one does not catch attention. People won’t try to see your watch brand if design doesn’t catch their eyes in the first place. No statement made here. TT bluesy is a beautiful watch with moderate statement, not too flashy. Full gold bluesy (116618lb) is the statement piece. Ofc if you are a corporate guy, a TT blue dial might be good enough, but not the dull looking SS black dial

I suppose a lot of guys think the two tone is too blingy for daily wear. Maybe but it is a classic and gold never goes out of style.

Private Idaho the color of the metal you use has to go accordingly to your skin tone and color, there are some people whose skin looks better with a silver/steel/platinum watch, and there are others who look better with gold or rose gold.

neitherlink yes! I think dark skinned people are the most versatile my skin tone doesn’t look good with yellow gold

I’ve had my Bluesy for about 7 years and it is about 90 to 95% mint !!! It’s has some light scuff and surface scratches on the clasp but nothing deep and also the links next to the glide lock like your SS!!! I also have minor dings but very very small on my bezel , gold part! Overall for seven years it looks amazing and it’s been my daily wearer for about 70% of the the time … anyone thinking about the Bluesy !!! Get it , you’ll love it !!!

The overall wear and tear has been pretty minimal for a year old watch, but I think it’s representative of what someone can expect if they don’t beat on their watch.

Very nice review and great close-ups! Love the Bluesy.

I totally agree with people not really noticing your watch unless they are into status items.

Fantastic watch review. I ended up getting the Bluesy and am very happy with it. Can't stop admiring it. After 1 year a few scratches on the clasp but c'est la vie.

You can't avoid those clasp scratches if you want to wear and use the watch. It's ok though, everyone gets them.

I like your reviews a lot, very detailed and thorough. You can tend to repeat points a little to often, give your viewers more credit that they get it the first time;)

I have had my new Submariner Date now for three weeks. Still really like it, especially since it took half a year on the AD waiting list to get it. My dressier piece is a 116000 but for some other occasions, i also have a G-shock 5610. Wouldn't wanna be without it either. Sadly, the rest of my watches in the rotation, hardly get any wrist time anymore. 😊

Great video, the way you zoom in and show wear and tear is so crucially important and I cannot figure out why more reviewers don’t do their videos the way you do. I also enjoy your Pepsi vs Batman video quite a bit. (I own a TT blue and a Batman (jubilee) as well both purchased brand new and I have to say though I really want that damn Pepsi after watching that video a few more times as well lol

Hello! I’m from Singapore, i have quite a few Rollies . I got the two tone bluesy before I got the stainless steel submariner two years ago. When I first got it it’s a level higher than getting the stainless steel because at that time there isn’t such situation like now no stock of stainless steel sport series.i just got the stainless steel submariner because of such situation and also I wanna keep the bluesy in nice condition. It’s a great contrast of colour matching a great piece of art work. It’s not a compromise to have a two tone bluesy and also the higher cost which is a few thousands higher.

I have a two tone datejust 41, I just ordered a blue stainless steel datejust . So should I wait for the Daytona or a two tone sub ? I already have the steel sub.

A note. I think you missed checking the polished inner, folding parts of the clasp. My watch have some scuffs on the inside, caused by the folded metal parts rubbing against each other.

so my rolex Sub evolution has gone from a pre-ceramic SS, to a Ceramic TT Bluesy, , to a full yellow gold Bluesy, to full white gold 126619LB... and each one was special in a way, but the latest seems to capture what I loved about all of them all in one! Sporty look of the SS, with the heft of the solid gold!

Great video. I recently bought the Bluesey because it’s my preferred watch over the stainless. I also have 2 tone Daytona and GMT2 I also have a SD DS Blue with stainless strap - Explorer 2 Polar with Stainless Strap and. Air King 40. So I’m really lucky to be able to have a choice to wear 3 of each - but overall I love the two tones.

I don’t remember if I said specifically. My Submariner runs one half a second fast per day.

I've had a SS Sub for a while now. Just picked up a Bluesy last week. I never once got a comment on the SS and I've already gotten 10+ on the Bluesy for what that's worth. Both are beautiful, but there's just something about that sunburst dial!

Guy I feel the same as you, with having no regrets! I love mine and haven’t looked back! I purchased mine in December 2017, so almost 1 year. I’m at about 98% usage and only wear a different watch during physical activity. Mine has a couple significant dings in the case that hurts when I look at them. Try to enjoy the watch without worrying but still hurts to see the deeper gouges in the case from daily wear. I do think it’s funny when I compare to say the seiko007 I used to daily wear and also work during physical activity the submariner scratches and dings up significantly easier. Great review. Thanks! Also in regard to you comment about noticing your watch...couldn’t agree more!! Maybe has 3 people even mention they like it. Everyone else, don’t notice and don’t care!

I went to south and central Florida (beautiful state) last week, looking for the iconic Rolex steel sub date, I was very lucky to find it calling to the biggest dealers in the state and eventually someone find it for my, 3 hours driving from Miami , and almost at the same time another seller called my from Mayors (the biggest dealer in FL) asking me if I wanted to see the Rolex sub no date, l saw it, tried it, and bought it immediately, because I really like it and also save one thousand US dollars that expended with my family and you know what , the Sub is really really an amazing comfortable watch . Really nice video, I never ever saw anybody in KZread talking about the scratches on the polished gold of the Rolex two tone Sub, thanks

I have owned the hulk aka green sub and sold it, few months later I got the 116613lb and by far it's so much nicer than hulk, the gold gives it a nicer feel in the hand. It's crazy the prices the hulk have gone too, you can have a bluesy and alot of change left over for the price if hulk. In my opinion your getting much more of a luxury watch with the bluesy

Another great video, I've got both pieces but the stainless sub is a W serial from 1994 that I bought used and my bluesy I bought brand new in Jan 1999 is a U serial and a year before solid end links and a few years before the gold was inlaid into the clasp;( I could make a nice profit on the bluesy but most likely will end up with one of my kids! I'm old school and enjoy the older classic case but really enjoy the new bracelets and clasp!

My sub is a desk diver too, and I live a relatively sedentary lifestyle but holy shit man. I’ve had mine for about 4 months now and you can tell it’s been worn. It can’t imagine after a year like yours. Do you wrap it in bubble wrap before going outside? Lol great video though very in depth. Hard to believe it’s been worn for 60-70% of the year though.

I have 6 Rolex watches Daytona - Bluesy - GMT etc and over the last 30 year no one has ever mentioned my watch. Furthermore I don’t talk to my friends about my passion and interest in watches because they think me weird.

Nice video Guy. I also had a hard time finding a new steel sub date so I bought the two tone black and gold sub. I wear it almost every day. I couldn't bring myself to buy the bluesy because the Smurf is a much, much better looking blue sub. Next on my list is the white gold Daytona on the Oysterflex strap. Rolex is such an amazing brand. I agree with you that no one pays attention what is on your wrist unless they are a watch geek. My old boss had a bluesy..I liked it alot. It is probably the only sub I would get. The only four watches I have had gotten comments on when I was wearing them are my Rolex AirKing, Omega seamaster, Cartier Santos and my AP GMT RO

That was a really in-depth and amazing video Guy! Love both watches! I actually got my TT Bluesy over the SS one because with the TT bluesy you get the best of both worlds. Well that’s just my opinion but by God it’s a beautiful watch and so is the iconic SS one!😀. As you said you’ve just gotta have to consider a few things before you can get the Bluesy over the SS one. The biggest factor for me was the hairline scratches!!! I think the over all look makes up for it though👍🏻. Initially they annoyed me a lot but as time goes by and you start wearing your watch and enjoying it, I don’t think that should be much of a problem 👍🏻. Once again amazing review my friend and wear your Sub in the best of health always!😉 Best, Hisham.

I tried on the solid gold blusey (not that it’s in my budget) and it was stunning. I’m not generally a fan of yellow gold, but this yellow was quite pale and I liked it. My personality is too “vanilla” for the two tone also.

Excellent video, Guy. That Submariner is a GEM and I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. P.S. I laughed at your comment about people saying “every scratch tells a story” when, most of the time, there is no story to tell.

I think that's why I prefer a leather strap over a bracelet, is because I'm not as careful as you are. All my bracelets have significant scratches on the clasps. For some reason, I seem to get scratches from no where, no matter how careful I try to be. I'm amazed your sub is in pristine condition with how much you wear the watch.

How does the 904L steel feel compared to 316L? Sorry for the question, but is there a big difference between them and is there a tell tale way of distinguishing it in pictures? Thanks for any advice. I'm considering a high end replica that claims 904L.

904L has a very different sheen as compared to 316. The difference between my Tudor GMT or Omega Speedmaster as compared to my 116610 or 116613 is VERY apparent. To me, anyway. It is hard to explain in words but there is almost a glow to the 904 that I can spot from across the room.

Throw the bluesy on a leather strap for casual , bracelet for dress occasions - perfect watch 👌🏼

I'm on the wait-list for a no-date Sub. I'm actually nervous about the all too common misalignment of the haute and the bezel. I have serious OCD when it comes to my prized stuff. I will pass if the alignments of either are out. :) It would drive me nuts.@@JustBlueFish

I have to be honest, I have never seen a Rolex dive watch with an aligned rehaut. I've heard they exist but I haven't seen it hahaha. I don't think Rolex considers the alignment of the rehaut as a feature that needs to be perfect.

I have been saving for a sinn U1tegimented or a marine master 600 spring drive. And am just 200 hundred shy. But even though I have a 15 year old marine master 300 I am really loving the new upgrades on the new marine master. Would love to see a comparison between your Rolex and what they are giving you for 3000 grand. Does your watch store carry it?

Yea. I have the bluesy and I scratched the hell out of it. I have to constantly get it polished. And some places won’t do it because they said it can remove the gold. Girls constantly compliment me on my watch also. Wish I got the SS Sub. Do you like the bluesy better than the black and gold sub??? Also I find it hard to match with suits and outfits even if i wear casual clothes

Why would you pay $10,000.00 for a watch when you can find a great Japanese alternative, equally well-made for 1/5th the cost?

I don’t wear watches for other people. If you do that’s a separate issue. I wear it because I’m a watch guy and I think they are art on your wrist. Not all watches are created equal trust me on that! For a 2 tone and gold you are paying for a precious metal.

My Submariner accuracy has been excellent. Approximately fast about a half second per day.

Here is my take as I have both watches. I bought the date Sub SS watch over 20 years ago and it is one of the best watches I've ever owned. I just picked up the Blue dial two tone date Sub this month and it is an absolutely stunning watch. If you want a watch to wear in the office, I'd go with the SS. The two tone is a bit too much and can cause jealousy that may be detrimental to your career! I wore my SS sub in the office every day and even that still got me a lot of flak in the beginning but it is not so much in your face as the two tone! The SS was on my wrist every day regardless what I was doing and it never ever failed me. They're both great watches and you will not be disappointed!!!

i use to clean my 214270 everytime after wearing it. id give it a wipe with a microsuede towel before putting it down. I noticed it picked up scratches and swirls quickly. so when i got my sub ceramic i decided to just never clean it. Only wash it under water once a month. I can say the sub c hasnt really picked up much scratches. My theory is that most of the swirls and scratches on the polished areas are caused by us cleaning it.

Brian C it’s caused by you using a dirty towel to dry it. That’s why. Clean it once a week min so you don’t get bracelet stretch. Newb

Love both. Beat to Hell 1970's Sub black dial no date, that was my go to as a Dive Instructor. Had a 1995 two tone blue that I sold. Still regret that. Found a beautiful 2016 two tone blue at my AD. Bought it on the spot. Obviously don't dive with it, but a lovely piece. I alternate between that and a GMT Master II Pepsi. The old sub is for diving only and hangs out on a winder. Will never sell that one.

Guy does the sunray blue command a higher price than the LN if resold?

You know I’m not sure I haven’t really paid much attention to preowned prices on that model. I’d have to jump on Chrono24 and look.

Can't decide between the bluesy and yacht master 40 rolesium with the rhodium dial...and I have less than 24 hours to decide....

Guy, love the video. Can’t imagine watching the whole thing at once due to the length but coming back for bit by bit is half the fun. Enjoy the Sub.

I love the TT Bluesy. It is kind of a weekend, fancy dinner, country club watch 😊

i don't understand the whole wait list. I just bought a no date, i walked in a mayor's and left with a receipt and a 4-6 week delivery time. I was told however, that the no date is less common and because of this, it can be ordered...so i did. The perk of buying new and in a AD, (per MAYOR's) they are held to retail prices! So long story short, you can order the no date...but you will have to wait or get lucky on the 1 per month date version.

these watches does not leave scratches easily as polish watches?

Great Guy as always. In fact I’m considering exchanging my 2017 sunburst blue 116613 LB with a Black two-tone 116613-LN. Both are all-time greats. I just feel, now, after enjoying the bluesy fully and completely, that the blue is a wee bit too much, specially with the gold font on the dual. Mind you even when I bought her I almost went for the LN but then picked the LB. The white font on the all-black-face I definitely find subtler overall, yet more classic all-time Submariner. Easy to wear with anything. Bless you Cyrus

Question, I really like the bluesy but not a fan of the blue face(I know, I know). The question is can I replace the blue face with a white face? Is that doable?

Yes you can. With Seiko you can do whatever you want.

I have 2 (2) tones and love them. Datejust 2 & Submariner Black LN. The compromise was not getting the all gold sub. Lol I never wanted a stainless steal sub.

For me the black dial on stainless Sub has been like a woman who’s found the perfect finely made black dress. This is the watch that will see me through life because the other Subs will ride the trends. That’s why I’ve only one other dive watch which is a quartz Seiko that I wear when I work on my boat and mow my yard. It’s blue so that I don’t mistakenly put my Sub on when I work on my boat or mow my yard. The Sub is for when I’m on my boat and docking at restaurants. A very good day watch to complement this watch instead of an Explorer is a Tudor Black Bay 36 or 41. If a date function is needed a 1926 is a n option.

Great review of these two awesome watches, I really like both of them but unfortunately as a pensioner here in the UK would be out of my price range. I do have a Invicta homage watch to the Rolex Submariner though which people have commented on and is the two tone black/gold one the Invicta 8927OB. Lots of people don't like homage watches I know but there are lots of watch brands that do them and very well indeed and can't see the problem with that for people who cannot afford the real thing. It has a good Seiko movement which is hackable and hand winding and is quite accurate, I only paid £69.99 for mine and am very happy with it. I have quite a few watches in my collection, Citizen, Seiko, Orient, Rotary and various others but the Invicta homage watch does get a lot of wrist wear and is certainly one of my favourite automatics. The only downside is the Invicta engraving on the side of the watch but it isn't an issue really as it is covered up most of the time. I have placed an order for the blue two tone version the Invicta 8928OB which should arrive soon. At the end of the day it is all down to what you like to wear and after all it is only a timepiece, if you enjoy it wear it. Thanks for your enjoyable channel and honest reviews I really like your channel.

I also have the Invicta 8926 black and stainless, the 8927 black and gold , and the 8928 black and blue. They all look very beautiful! And I am happy with them they look stunning. And if anybody asks, I say they are Invicta, but the model and style are inspired by the submariner!

Looking at getting Bluesy so obviously watching all youtube content. Question - why are the hands and indices on your bluesy not in yellow gold??? I couldn't see why something looked off then it dawned on me...

Just watched this.... the 2 tone bluesy is one of the best looking watches of all time. Bought mine new way back in 1986 and its my favorite out of all my watches. It keeps great time, no issues at all and had it serviced twice. I just still don't understand this infatuation with the all stainless trend. Bluesy forever!

The Bluesy is just as much a classic signature Rolex, it's just a different watch

I bought a Rolex 7 months ago and it gets at least 98% wear. It has made all my other watches redundant. As for watch comments, I had one man say I like your watch, it was my Omega Speedmaster. That was one comment in 50 years. I think that says it all.
