Role Play: Demonstration of a Supervision Session

In this video, Philip Armstrong (Clinical Director of the Clinical Counselling Centre and CEO of the Australian Counselling Association) and Catherine Dodemont (Registered Supervisor and Level 4 Member of the Australian Counselling Association) demonstrate (through a role-play) a counselling supervision session. Topics explored include counsellor self-care, professional development, confidentiality issues, practice management and marketing, and much more. The video was produced by Mental Health Academy, Australia’s largest provider of continuing professional development (CPD) for mental health professionals (www.mentalhealthacademy.com.au).

I also feel the potential client will also need to see a photo of the counsellor as from those I know have said some potential clients felt they did not resonate with the look of a counsellor - and that is fine too. If someones face looks uninviting and harsh i would not go too. !!

Im confused! Is this an example of good clinical supervision? I thought it was going to be an example of poor supervision and later show a good example.

It's very poor. Perhaps uts a example of the fact that a supervisor can hit supervision competencies whilst being a poor supervisor. This is an excuse for self promotion and trying to hammer someone into the same shape as oneself.

@@gooooo12345 yes I was waiting for an improved version. It’s not even good supervision based on non clinical examples.

I agree with this assessment. I would think this is NOT a good example of supervision. This is not the kind of supervision I have received, nor given.
