The emotional disassociation to your surroundings, fear of commitment, fear of not being understood and the relationship self-sabotage he's experiencing ... are very real. It's a hard question, and it's hard to admit, or fully disclose what he's feeling, especially on camera. Some people go through this event and feel more than others. I'm not a psychologist but I understand what he's going through. Please be kind to this man. We are all trying to figure out.

i think he gave us a general idea of why they ended while still protecting their privacy. he seemed like he was going through an identity crisis and didnt know how to articulate his feelings without the other person taking it personally. sounds like they wanted different things. which is normal this young. ❤️ amazing interview.

I think the whole concept of losing yourself to a relationship is very indicative of an unhealthy attachement style. So wether you are the disorganized, anxious or avioidant type - losing all sense of self and the things that make you - well you - I think speaks to the lack of healthy attachement styles that a lot of us have (speaking from experience lol). Hopefully this is something we can all work on in the future and learn about, so that we can be in happy and fulfilling relationships were we don’t feel isolated from the world or from the things that make us feel like ourselves.

Yeah I felt the same. Sounds like he doesn’t know how to balance his other relationships while in a romantic one. He even says he tries to talk his friends out of being in a relationship bc he doesn’t wanna lose them??? Seems like maybe they were maybe a little co-dependent w each other so this split was probably a good thing for the both of them.

The not having friends aside from the relationship is a decision one makes. I hope everyone in a relationship could experience that and have a balance with it so that the bond between you and your partner stays healthy while also having other people/friends to turn to and share moments and feelings with.

I relate to this so hard. Your music actually helped me with this so the new album will probably totally be me too lol. In 2016 I moved back home, leaving my fiance at the time because I was so home sick for the east coast. Sometimes relationships just fizzle out and our own stuff just mucks it up. Nothing dramatic really needs to happen. It's just life. And you can only thrive where you feel yourself. I was dying (it felt like that and my depression got really dark) being so far from home. I didn't feel like me (I felt so lost even from me). It's wild. So I completely understand Tucker (aka Role Model). It sucks but it's life

It seems that he was going through some internal struggles... especially with the identity he had created in LA. His career is really why he is ultimately in LA but otherwise feels no connection with the space. I think through all of that he met Emma but she attracts so much attention because she's such a big internet figure... that he prob felt even more suffocated in LA. Yea sure you can love someone enough to overcome such things.. but you'd end up sacrificing yourself for the sake of the relationship.. which is not healthy. It seems that it was almost an organic breakup of a passing relationship that happens to everyone. We've all had this type of relationship and then we either find it again after growing or find someone else.

I’m sure being with her was isolating on a whole other level than he could experience single. Wanting to get away from the circus of that and be the “main character” with your childhood friends and family makes a lot of sense

honestly speaking, I've never understood how you can lose friends/reduce contact with family members and people you love when ur in a relationship (yes I've been in a relationship so I know what I'm talking abt lol). I'm sorry but that means something is wrong, and ur probably over-dependant on the person. Cuz I can't IMAGINE losing any of my friends just because I'm in a relationship...likeee, I'll make time for my partner ofc, but my family and friends are also important. Because I don't expect him to be spending every waking hour with me or texting/calling me, and vice versa. We both have our own lives and shit to do, so I mean idk....I wasn't in the relationship with them so there's no way I would know whether the were actually over-dependant on each other and CONSTANTLY spending time with each other (to the point where is WAS affecting their relationships with family and friends), or it was something completely different🤷‍♀ But anyway, this was just my opinion, not trying to hate, just my honest thoughts. Would really like to hear if you guys have experienced losing friends and family because of a relationship and why you think it happened + why you think that happens to some people in general

That just means that person is not a good match for you, not necessarily that they are abusive. It would be abusive if she was stopping him from going home and hanging out with friends and family. Or if she was orchestrating his isolation from them. In this case it just sounds like he felt lonely in the relationship.
