That's what we need more of today ... athletic opera singing. It is missing too much from most performers today.

It is so sad that his voice's gone, it was so beautiful, colourful, emotional but it burns just for a minute. I have got shivers each time I listened to his prime singing. Maybe less power, less concerts would have saved him.

This guy is absolutely wonderful both as a singer and as a human being. I am truly sorry that those naysayers here find they cannot enjoy the natural talents and simple, unsophisticated, personality of this singer. Perhaps they have been brought up to require opera singers to be stiff, aloof, inexpressive when singing? If so you I am sorry for you. Rolando's reputation is established as one of the greatest living tenors in the world, yet this singer has always remained humble and very human.

Wonderful musical and vocal statement.. To me it is nearly perfect.

@slack1more1 I agree with you. He is a very down to earth, fun loving guy, who happens to have a gorgeous voice. In some way, he reminds me of Mario Lanza, also a raw natural talent, never too refined, but oh so wonderful to listen to. Rolando has gotten some undeserved bad press, because he gave too much of himself and could have hurt his voice in the long run. After some time off he is back, better than ever.

I agree i have seen Villazon 3 times alive and i think he puches too harsh on the top notes streshing to much and thats extremely dengerous for his voice i think he needs a better technique thats all.. but love his voice bravo.

I think that he has a great voice but with this way of singing the vocal chords are damaged and it would be a shame that he was stopping singing so soon. He is one of my favorite tenors, but he must not ill-treat so much his voice

enjoyable renditions by great talent, albeit overdone especially at Bflat high notes: too muscled which is the prewarning of the coming vocal cyst he speaks of having in his later video to fans. subtle but telling glotal attacks to make voice more masculine produce undue pressure on vocal cords. this was some of the same things used to the demise of Caruso's wonderful talent: two sets of nodes on cords in his career that we know of.

A beautiful voice but I just can´t look at him. All those purposeless movements and mannerisms seem to me something´s wrong with his technique. Like his voice but it is disturbing to look at him.
