Una voce straordinaria e non solo, è anche un grande interprete, una mimica da grande attore, ma non una mimica finta, come purtroppo se ne vedono spesso, la sua è una mimica spontanea, vera, di grande sensibilità, si vede che si immedesima sino in fondo al personaggio. Un grande in tutti i sensi, tenori cosi se ne sono visti pochi. La Scala dovrebbe fargli un contratto a vita.

Villazón o la intensidad. El tenor mexicano lleva en esta interpretación de su aria final del drama de Mascagni a la cima climática de un hombe que va a enfrentarse con la muerte. Su amor incabado por su amor nunca inconcluso por la bella y ardiente Lola lo lleva a cometer el pecado del adulterio que lo conducirá del placer climático amoroso, éxtasis pasional, al sufrimiento tremendo del arrepentimiento por sus culpas multiplicadas en esos instantes finales que preceden a su final presentido. Es en esta obra emblemática del verismo italiano donde las emociones afloran de manera acelerada en ese drama sentimental ya fuera de toda razón inteligible. Las suplicas a su afligida madre que entiende lo que pasa su hijo son expresadas con desesperanzada desesperación. Es un hombre acabado que pretexta su sufrir a los excesos etílicos. Su transformación verdadera y desesperada es de caracter existencial. Todos esos extremos son manifestados por el intérprete en pocos minutos de entrega a la música y su canto unido al drama llega a conmover a quien lo ve y lo escucha. Una voz oscura y bella de penitud de armónicos y expresión sirve como catalizador de intensidades venenosas casi tóxicas por irremediables. Sin ninguna clemencia para si mismo pero a la vez un rigor expresivo total en unos pocos minutos Rolando Villazón demuestra fehacientemente que es uno de los más grandes.

It's quite dramatic perfomance, but he's lirycal tenor (and one of the most beautiful of them), maybe spinto, not dramatic... as far as I could say.

Renaissance men or women tend to do what they do at an exceptional level or at least at an acceptable one. Rolando was a great singer who was betrayed by his voice coaches who taught him a terrible technique(specially Jasso) and now tries to keep singing by taking on baritone roles. He is not good at stage directing(but he has a lot of friends), he is a terrible tv host and a mediocre cartoonist. So the term Renaissance man that you used is totally wrong. I would give you Leonardo da Vinci as an example but that is too much; but try Sam Shepard. That is a good and a superior example. Greetings from México.

Direi che è fuori ruolo in molte opere, non nel verismo dove nuota in acque amiche, specie vista la sua personalità
