Wow!!! Honestly I checked this out after I saw Begringer clone demo today but damn forget that this demo is one of the best I've ever seen. The build is epic. It's the player behind any synth that is the true magic. Beautiful video 😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏

This is such a sweet, classical Berlin-school assembly (especially the first piece) and a true joy to listen to. A lovely tribute to a lovely synth of a lovely musical era; thank you!

Thank you for the nostalgia session! I loved my SH-5 back in the day, but it got the dreaded oscillator drift and after 2 futile "repairs" I replaced it with an SH-7, which I found restricting in comparison. Way too heavy for lugging around to gigs, but nice to see and hear one again. Cheers.

Tangerine dream did use one, but of course they basically used every synthesizer that was produced. Back in ancient times when magazines were a thing several of them did quite in depth articles and interviews on the setups and the evolution of their setups.

Thanks! I wasn't aware TD used one, but on the other hand I'm not surprised they did. TD is great, even today (saw them perform last June).

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤩🤩🤩
brilliant demo, shows the real capabilities and versatility of the sh5.... what are you using a a sequencer, if at all?
@rimela
4 ай бұрын
Thanks! For sequencing I used several methods: I used Ableton sending midi notes via a MIDI-CV/gate interface (the Dotcom Q104). Also I used several analogue sequencers: the Moon Modular 569, the Dotcom Q960.
Why didnt this get more likes? Are people stupid? How can you not like this? Absolutely fantastic.. Thanks

They are worlds apart, I think, but you can make music with it too.
Do you track with preamp? Obviously, you're very skilled to make every synth sound so good, but I'm just wondering what your tracking chain is. Thanks

Thanks! I track with Mackie 32 8 bus (direct out, no EQ) using Allen & Heath ICE-16 audio interface (16bit, 44,1k Hz)
First of all I'd like to thank you for your extensive reply (Teisco video, Eno's suitcase synth,) Somehow your compositions touch on themes and progressions from the synth's era but without obvious references to any particular tune ("Dr. Who-ish qualities" sounds like an accusation of theft wrapped in a compliment, I mean well though). Browsing your channel after subbing I noticed you're from The Netherlands too. The collection of synths featured in your videos is impressive; your ability to get the most out of them would either indicate that they're yours, or that you're able to adept and adjust very fast through intuition and experience, with a great ear for sweet spots. Given the fluidity I go with the latter. Are there any synths that would make your must do list? Btw. what coincidence: I've lived in Delft for most of my life.
@rimela
5 ай бұрын
Thanks and you're welcome Jair! And yes, I'm fortunate to still have almost all of those synths. Though, I've come to realize there's a limit in holding on to synths or acquiring more even. Luckily, a solution presented itself, enabling me to keep on doing new demo's of new machines. You'll see in my next video. A must do list? Not really, I'll see what comes on my path. If you have suggestions you're welcome to e-mail me at: loopfactory@gmail.com
Great job again ! Do you like this better than the SH-7?

I replaced my ailing SH-5 with the duophonic SH-7 but never bonded with it and sorely missed my 5, though I didn't miss the insane weight of it!

Thank you! There was already a question on which one I would choose. I think it would have to be the SH-7. But both the SH-5 and SH-7 are way on top of my favorites list.

@@rimelawell, I bought my SH-7 after watching the video you did on it. I still think it is one of your very best.
Did you use some special analog sauce for recording, or mastering? Like transformers, tubes...?
@rimela
3 ай бұрын
Nope, just SH-5 straight into Ableton Live, only standard effects (compression, eq, delay, reverb) from Ableton, also on the masterbus (multiband compression).

@@rimela You did a good job there, I think. Are these also on the stems? If I mix them together, will I get close to the quality of your mix? Could you maybe share the tools and settings you use? But not urgent.

That's a tough one. I have had the SH-7 for about 5 years now and the SH-5 for only 7 weeks. I'm really impressed with the SH-5. The filter configuration is fantastic! But if I really had to choose between the two, I believe it would have to be the SH-7.

What's your favorite SH ? SH7 or SH5 ?

Really difficult question. I’m leaning towards the 7.
Absolutely hated the old used video tape FX at the beginning. The sounds are great! I've always wanted one. That even when Behringer release the clone I still probably won't be able to afford one. Amusing that you colored it so that it's the colors that Behringer was planning on using. Please put out some more clips. If I hate your visual presentation I'll simply look away because I definitely enjoy the music and will play this three or four times in a row. Thanks for putting up a nice soundtrack.
