Roland S -1 | Interstellar

A Roland S-1 synth cover of the Interstellar main theme. Performed with a custom patch solely on the Roland S-1, recorded with a Zoom F1. A very small mix of Valhalla Supermassive was added in post to supplement the S-1's already great reverb. The Roland S-1 is a fantastic piece of equipment for it's price. I purchased mine a few months ago in Copenhagen and have been finding new ways to use it every time I use it.

That synth (cause it's a real synth, don't be fooled by its size) is a beast, one of the best roland products ever.

No, I travel a lot so just a S-1 and an OP-Z which I'm waiting to recieve back after a warranty return. The S-1 can fake hi-hats decently with the noise osc., if you haven't tried that.

Does Roland have any plans to fix the software defect of the S-1 having no MIDI Volume (CC07) capability? CC07 has been a standard feature in MIDI synths for about 40 years. Roland! Please get your act together on this one. The S-1 is a beautiful instrument, so why screw it up with this major omission?

@@markyounq yes, def patch videos 💯. Also how to break out of the 16/32 mind set. As a beginner, I’m stuck thinking short form. How do you transition from one phrase to the next, but keep some parts going to keep the theme? Also, videos like yours show that you can score and create full length pieces. I think the huge power of this box (other than the sounds) is that you can make music anywhere, and to create at will??? Wow.
