If you’ve got screws and washers left over, that just means you’ve assembled it better than Roland could.

Thanks for this AWESOME VID! You inspired me in January to the amazing world of Hardware Synths. I just bought some broken Keyboards and am repairing them. I have an M-Audio Hammer 88 that I have fixed the USB B female input, I know its not much, however I have to start somewhere. now I have a keyboard! I am going to be making my own modular synth this year. Thanks again for your energy and excitement. Keep it up!

Inspirational as always! Makes me want to drag out my old synth and tool about with it. Its got some missing sounds and quiet keys that I'd like to work properly. Maybe I'll be able to make it look as easy as you do... even though I can tell you toil with it... just like I would. Keep up the great work.

I had one of these for years after I traded in my original Juno 60 for it. I had the problem described in the video where one of the voices didn’t work. Nice to see the explanation. I never understood they hype for this synth. It was one of the least used in my collection.

Such a great synth. If I had been 3 yrs older I would have bought this one instead of the Juno 2 (almost identical sound but no sliders, still awesome too). I remember the first time I put it through my distortion pedal (Boss DS-1) and my band mates turned their heads in a collective WTF!? Good times.

One thing I learned about the 106 recently is that if you run both outputs (stereo) it's actually outputting two mono signals until you turn the chorus on. Chorus = actual stereo.

Hey - man - beautiful, all of it. Love your jams and tech. Tip; you don’t need to do this, but might want to... Black keys, just play them by themselves - instant good sounding pentatonic music. Then, go white keys, then black , then white again, instant tension, jazzy, funky music.

why would you. the analog renaissance started. You can even get the CEM3310,3320,3340 for under 10 usd. new, just from the factory. and start building your own fucking synth like they did back then. electricdruid.net/analog-renaissance/ See here what is already available and much will follow.

Yeah the acetone bath worked well for me, I had a voice scratching an poping randomly and in the first place I feared it was dead. Analogue renaissance chips look great, but I only found it on US website, and shipping to Europe + taxes made it quite expensive, so... Pretty happy with the acetone trick for now ;)

..he has a slightly more love hate relationship with the Juno 106.. I also have a HS-60 (Juno 106 w/speakers) that needs new sound chips.. I took my Juno 106 apart years ago to try to bring a couple chips back to live but I need new ones hopefully I can use the HS-60 as a reference because it been 10 years since I started that project.. I just bought new synths instead of repairing it.. the Juno 106 can do some amazing things that I haven't been able to quite duplicate with Dave Smith Instruments, Behringer or Korg.. the LFO is excellent and I like flipping the envelope to make backwards acid sounds.. it's the strange blips and harsh LFO that this really excells at.. Behringer Deepmind and Behringer MS-1 have my interest now..
