i like thiem but is technique is garbage. he defently makes teh best out of it. still he is wasting and enourmous amount of energy. also his swing takes relativly long, so he always has prolbems with fast balls, even here in the training he struggled at some forehands due to speed. and the balls wont reach his opponents as fast as they should considering the effort and price in form of long swing he takes. its almost as half of the energy just vanishes during the stroke

I dont know but can one explain me the topspin? I mean sure im not an idiot i do see his grip and the crazy amount of spin he generates with his racket but my problem is when the ball hits the ground i dont see the ball bouncing any different. Well maybe it does but i expect it to bounce much more crazy if hitting such heavy spin like thiem... so either one cant see it in such clip or my expectations of a ball bouncing off with heavy spin is way to unrealiatic🤣😅

  • @lilslick2231

@@theswissaviationenthusiast5229 In this clip, for one, his partner is hitting somewhat on the rise, and Thiem is hitting very hard. This means that it’s received quite a bit before it reaches peak height. This is why Nadal for example hit his heaviest balls with a bunch of height. The ball peaks right around where his opponent is. But yeah, doesn’t show too much here. Watch the out ball he hits at 2:55 which has very low spin. Compare its bounce to the other shots.

Nadal hit harder in the final than Thiem, the power he gets on clay is crazy. But he has a heavier racket with all poly so he doesn't need to swing this hard. That's the thing. Thiem uses a super lightweight control racket and relies more on swing speed to generate power and spin. But if he gets tired and can't swing that hard, his shot power drops down a lot and his opponent easily push him around.

Respect to Thiem but his style of play makes everything look so hard and like so much effort. I really hope he stays healthy.

Federer's style of play clearly might dispose one to think he isn't hitting the ball as hard, be reassured, he is hitting just as hard.. just smoother and quieter.
