I've been getting asked a lot about which one of these great made in USA plates people should go with. In this video I break down why I usually recommend what I do. Let me know if you have other questions or want to see more videos on these plates in the comment section below.

Hey Brandon. I always look enjoy and look forward to your videos. I have a question for you but it doesn't pertain to the weight plates . I don't have anyone else to ask and I know you usually respond . Also , I really respect your opinion and insight. Ok , my question is ; do you think that Reebok legacy lifters are ok for deadlifts at 22mm or .86 of an inch? I have used many shoes through the years , as well as flats , but never a shoe this high . Do you think it's ok to give it a shot or just stick to a lower heel ? I'm in this spot because I am really loving these legacy lifters for squats . Anyway , thanks Brandon and I would really like to hear your thoughts on this.

A lot of people who do Starting Strength tend to wear oly shoes to DL in. Personally I think they pitch you a bit too far forward. What I would suggest is get some change plates (2.5s or 5s) and put those under your heels to simulate what it would be like. If you're cool with it, go for it (assuming you don't own already). If you do own them already, doesn't hurt to try.

I had the Rogue deep dish and sold them and replaced with the Strength Co. Good move on my part. Rogue plates are beautiful and make a great "clanging" bell sound, but my biggest problem with them was their 25s, which have almost no lip and are easy to drop on your toes. However, I was lucky that the budget plates actually worked out to be in good pairs so I can load the bar evenly. Pair of 45s, pair of 44.75s, pair of 44.5s. I saw the video and the gorilla tape stuck to the walls (ripped the paint right off) but would not adhere or stick to the flags at all (polyester) so the tarp clips being screwed into the wall, with the clips themselves holding the flag, worked best and they weren’t expensive at all. FWIW, the Troy machined plates (the ones with the triangles, come in grey or black) are also a medium deep dish (compared to the Rogue, which are very deep dish). The Troy's are therefore also easy to handle. Not as nice a finish on them as these two, though. The machining is decent. Pretty tight on the bar and won't scratch it off.

With the sets and free shipping it’s about 200 more for the rogue weight I need. I’m also not excited about super tight fit because it’s a pain I. I bought 135kg of iron plates from Force USA for $270AUD. Quality & design is awesome and end result is exactly the same. 4 x 20kg + 4 x 10kg + 2 x 5kg + 2 x 2.5kg plates.

I don’t understand why anyone would get the rogue plates. If I wanted to spend that much money I would get the calibrated weights for the color and accuracy since they are the same price.

@@BasementBrandon I guess. I’ve always liked the color of the calibrated weights myself plus I like the added accuracy is nice (not that I necessarily need it).

@@Denali_Rebel Oh def get it in that case. Prob be cheaper too. Rogue has teased calibrated color correct made in USA plates which use these as a base, but no idea when they're coming to market.

Did not realise the Rogue's were the same price as calibrated. Wut. I thought that was the whole point, they're a cheaper alternative to getting the real thing. How silly

I think the price difference comes down to made in USA (olympic USA) vs China (current calibrted)
