Rogue Monster Landmine 2.0

Landmines are great pieces of equipment that have a lot of versatility. However, they're also some of the most simplistic gear outside of a barbell. Today we discuss the Rogue Fitness Monster Landmine 2.0 and see if they continue the trend of over engineering equipment and if it's worth the price of admission.

Landmine by... Movado? "The best landmine attachment you can get...for 1" racks..." The most heavy duty/brutal landmine is the Hammer Strength Power Pivot (I have 2 of them) - the damn thing has 2 grease fittings and will f-up your hand if you try to pick it up by itself without thinking first! The Hammer Strength Power Pivot tends to be listed used for $399.00 (no, I did not pay that absurd price for mine)

I picked one up just because last time I was shopping at rogue and I like it as a clean solution for a problem, particularly if you don’t have a specialty piece. You can shove it in the corner of the room but it’s going to eat your bar if you don’t have rubber everywhere and that’s most home gyms! Is it too much?! My garage gym is pretty rough on the floor. It works for ME. But.... my old commercial gym didn’t need this attention.

So (pretend) if I’m facing forward or back, which in bird’s eye view, would then be “up or down.” So with the landmine being in the bottom right hand corner (represented by a comma), typically you would use the landmine facing “down” (birds eye view) towards the front of the rack, however i have space limitations in the front, so could i use the bar to the “right” for example [=],___ pretend that the underscore is a barbell. Rogue makes nice equipment, but it's 11-gauge steel. If they wanted to "overbuild" their equipment, they would use 7-gauge steel, which is 50% stronger and thicker than 11-gauge (0.180 steel versus 0.120 steel, or 3/16" thick versus 1/8" thick). In contrast (for example), Samson equipment is all "overbuilt" from 7-gauge steel.
