A couple of weeks ago GGR went on a road trip to IHRSA in Dallas Texas to see the latest and greatest gym equipment that's hitting the market.
One such booth I was excited to see was what equipment Eleiko was working on for home gym owners. We were able to see their latest equipment including the new Eleiko Prestera Rack, Oppen Collars, Evo Dumbbells, and some weight benches along with barbells.
Come along for the ride.

The word inclusive never use to generate any feelings in me. But in the current environment, the word inclusive combined with weight training generates powerful emotion in me. Before you dismiss me as ignorant I urge you to reread the appendix to 1984 by Orwell. Jocko recently read it if you want to listen to an awesome voice read it. My desire to keep this current climate and the word inclusive away from sweat and work and pudding that shows proof is well founded. Thank you if you read this far. May sanity prevail.

The gym I go to has the Eleiko platform seen @0:34. Yes, it is very quiet and suitable for crossfit (snatches, clean and jerks). But for deadlifts with sets of multiple reps it's not optimal: the barbell and the weights bounces around to much sideways, and you will have to re-adjust your standing for almost every rep.

Love you coop. You are fun to watch and I love your passion. Glad I found you and subscribed. You are one of the reasons I started building a home gym even though I am poor as hell haha and I love it. I did a 450 pounds deadlift at home last week. I never did more than 405 at gyms. Having my own heavy metal music blasting loud and being able to grunt make it so much better.

I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the kzread.infoUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

2 safety belts on the sides of the cage for the squad, think about the ones on cars, it gives in if you pull it slow and locks when you pull fast and the weight falls stoping it from crushing your spine, idk if it could work tho because you might go down slow when you cant lift it, just an idea

Eleiko makes many great products, but I will say this about its new collars: the design is terrible for removal since the underside of the switch digs into your fingers like a knife. Just watch the video and you’ll see that the rep had trouble removing one collar with both hands. Also, they don’t stay put; they shift outwards from deadlifts alone, so don’t expect to drop your bar from overhead.

  • @jamestonbellajo

I have a pair of these. They are insanely hard to take off an unloaded bar or if you only have small plates loaded on. However, I have one collar that is perfect to use. Not too loose and not too tight and I can unclip it pretty easily with just one hand and it’s a joy to use. However, the other collar in my pair is at least twice as tight and it is so hard to remove it so I experience something similar to what you saw with the rep. I guess your mileage may vary, but they’re replacing the tighter collar for me. Glad I still have my Lock Jaw Pro collars though haha.

I've got a pair of these clips they're dope. They hold insanely well, but I won't deny they're a huge pain to unlatch sometimes. A couple of my friends can't can't do it it locks so tight. My favorite thing about them is not having to slide them up and down my barbell to get them on, alsonthe magnets are very nice with rubber coated weights. With plain cast iron plates it's insanely hard to remove.

I am liking the OPPEN collars and just ordered the Prestera. Here is a rundown on the Prestera. 1. - It's 70mm by 70mm which means most of the older Eleiko XF 80 attachments will not work because they were designed for 3 x 3. 2. - The Stainless Steel uprights they use will not allow magnets to stick to them. It's a higher quality stainless steel and magnetic collars will not stick to them. You can stick the collars on the rear uprights though. 3. Most manufactures make attachments for 3 x 3 racks, but don't make attachments for 70mm by 70mm. That means you are pretty much stuck with Eleiko attachments. That is good and bad. Great quality, but more expensive. Here is a video on did on the OPPEN collars. They are solid collars and easy to use. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4uXmtuOc8Tboc4.html

7:17 points out that Elieko designers obviously lift. Then points out non- functional additions like knurled handles and pins, and stainless steel decoration. Those things seem like they were added by the art department.

Knurling is a massive improvement for anyone who deals with sweat. Many people don’t live in snowy areas. It’s obviously better than galvanised steel... but it’s not cheap. The price is the only issue.

As a Swedish person i love Eleiko and their quality is amazing but the pricing on somethings is just ridicolous i dont mind paying 800$ for an amazing bar that i will have forever but a squat stand for 1300 is weird as its less material and i can get a squat RACK for 800

I love that pullup attachment, but how relevant is Eleiko to either non wealthy garage trainers, or regular gym members? Can't afford it myself, can't expect my gym owner to shell for it either. For that matter, I'd rather see them invest in a lot of other things before wasting limited budget on expensive equipment. I'll take a new pendulum squat machine over overpriced bars, regardless of the quality of the knurling.
