'Rogue Lukashenko could be disastrous for Russia' | Hamish de Bretton-Gordon

"A rogue Lukashenko trying to play the big man...it could be disastrous for Belarus and disastrous for Russia"
Belarusian helicopters straying onto polish territory could be a ploy to distract NATO and Ukraine from counter offensive successes, says Hamish de Bretton-Gordon Retired British army colonel and tank commander and CBRN warfare expert.

Medvedev's nuclear threats are like 'the boy who cried "Wolf!". Medvedev has cried "Nuke!" so many times that the Western leaders just dismiss it as meaningless background noise. If Russia wants the West to pay attention to its nuclear weapons, then it could break the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, and carry out a nuclear test explosion, like the ones the USSR carried out in the Cold War. Now THAT would DEFINITELY get the West's attention! However, Russia could lose support from China and India if it did that.

We should have been training Ukrainian pilots since 2014. Out all the types of aid that can be offered to a foreign government, military training is the least risky and easiest to conceal and/or deny. Had we recognized the Crimian annexation and fake rebellion in Donbas in 2014 for what it was (Russian expansionism) and shown an ounce of resolve to stand up to Russia, this whole situation could have been avoided. Barack Obama folded at the mere whisper of 'nuclear' and the guy after him wished Putin liked him as much as he did him. Suffice to say time was wasted and courage was lacking to prepare for what was so easily predictable by Russian affairs experts. Not just the US but the west as whole dropped the ball on Ukraine and now we're stuck having to do it the hard way working steps behind the needs of the fight on the ground.

Unfortunately, Biden has deliberately withheld and/or delayed all the necessary weaponry Ukraine has asked for during the past eighteen months. The glacial pace at which the insipid Biden administration functions, has been to withhold F-16's, Attack Helicopters, Patriot Systems, M1 Abrams and ATACMS long-range missiles since this war began. Russians will live outside of Russia as they always have: off their Oligarch money stolen from Russian taxpayers or just normal people finding normal work abroad or online. How they stay in each country they escape to varies - some overstay visas and some hop around from country to country to restart the visa timer. I suppose ex-pat Russians could help each other with finding a home and a job, but with Russians being as disconnected from each other as they are from all of us, I don't see many having the desire to pitch in and help other stranded overseas Russians. This was just a badly thought out NATO war who thought the Russians were weaker than they are. As it turns out... NATO is a lot weaker and have run out of weapons to give them. Regardless of your position,... you'd better hope for peace and/or Russian victory. Otherwise you'll see nukes flying. There is no happy ending for Ukraine here.

Well.... for those of us in or with experience in the Intelligence Services, he'd be incorrect to believe that no nukes of any kind are in Belarus. Let's just say there's definitely evidence of it, except that Lukashenko does NOT have any access to them being used. That's the actual caveat. However, at least 2 Russian mob groups do have access to small nuclear armament, but the likelihood of the 2 mob groups actually using the small ones they've managed to procure is next to nil, as they only felt the need to procure these as a "last stand effort" of defense for themselves. Anyway, great assessment overall. Much appreciated.

The Australian aircraft have never been used in a carrier role so the air frames should be in much better condition, the Finish air force operates the F18 off airfield the same as the the Swedish Gripen which would also be a good fit for Ukraine given the state of their air fields. I have been embarrassed as someone who is lives in the West by some of "wishy-washy" talk coming out of the mouths of some of some of our so called Western leaders. The slow response of some Western Powers to supply armaments to Ukraine is breathtaking or is the truth is that their military equipment cupboards are bare? As for the UN, it is a very expensive talking shop that is badly need reform. How can you have an aggressor country like Russia on the Sercurty Council. It beggers believe. Victory to Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Glory to the Ukrainian Heroes 🇺🇦 A 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 living in 🇮🇪

It would almost be entertaining to watch Poland "roll up" Belarus! If there weren't lives at stake on both sides, I'd say, "bring in on mini-me Russkies!" Slava Ukraini! God bless Poland. From Champaign, Illinois, USA.

It wouldn't be entertaining if Russia used tactical nuclear weapons on the Polish army.

that - why don’t you visit some of the US streets with the tents and boxes as shelter for vets, fentanyl addicts, unemployed homeless people., I’m sure you would enjoy that.

Lukashenko has a well developed drive of self preservation. No way no how he does anything to attack NATO territory. On the other hand, NATO will probably do nothing except in response to a sustained attack. A limited airstrike by Belarus or a few artillery shells here and there would probably only get a verbal response.

I think the United Kingdom needs to get more tanks since it has so much oil spare and less than 180 active tanks… I think it should be increased to 500 active and about 30-40 spare

It is disgraceful currently- The UK would need nearly 250 to defend its homelands alone and should have groups dotted around the world for NATO security

To be honest the UK should have more than 85,000 troops and up that too up to about 125,000 (the same as 1995)
