Rogue Hoes - the best garden hoe you'll find - makes weeding super easy

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Rogue Hoes by Prohoe are pretty amazing. The quality is top notch and the sharp edges really make a difference. Pulling up large clumps of grass with the garden hoe, or weeding with the scuffle hoe is a breeze.

Looks really cool, I use a stirrup hoe. The only real problem I see with this hoe, is being so sharp, if you weed right up next to your garden plants, if it is not minutely controlled, you may cut the roots of the plants you intend to leave. So be very careful. Otherwise, it looks like a neat addition to the garden tool shed. They are sold out right now, I just checked.

I made one of these 20 years ago out of 3/16 plate. Also made one that is half moon shaped. Thought I was on to something special, because there were none like it. After years of use, and a worsening back, I had to try something different. For my use, the hulu, or "stirrup" hoe actually works better and faster.

I own several Prohoes, they are the best. The triangle shaped hoe is called a scuffle hoe and is used mostly for light duty garden weeding. The other hoe that Prohoe sent you is a field or cotton hoe and I use it for clearing bush. This is a heavy duty hoe and I use it for chopping out big weeds or small saplings. In my part of the country, it is particularly effective against tangled ground vines. I don't know why the did not send you one of their more traditional lighter hoes like the 70G60. I use this hoe for "row walking" trailing my swipes to the right-back side. I can cover a lot of distance this way.

  • @GrassDaddy

yeah the regular hoe is great for larger clumps of grass too, it was also sharp so it cut the roots very easy. the weeding one is more for smaller clumps or if you have weed fabric getting just over top of the fabric.

My thoughts: received my 60 hoe. Used it in my veggie garden on weeds in rocks and around foundation of house. Seems to work best for me on the back swing it does the job fast. I have raised beds. I have massive flower beds that weeds are dug out and mulched. I would not use it for my beds. It is a well made tool. I ordered the one with the handle.

After using it for around a year, I feel it needs to be sharpened. I do have very hard rocky soil though which probably dulls the blade quicker. I believe you can use a grinder to sharpen the blade.

Apparently the scuffle I received is defective because after about 200' of row working, I felt like my back was in spasms. I'm 6'2" and in order to keep the cutting surface of the hoe flat against the soil, I had a steep bend in my back. My wife is 5'2" and I thought it would be ideal for her, however, she experienced the same effect. We're both born and breed country folks and have used hoe's our entire lives in the tobacco fields and gardens. This scuffle is incorrectly designed. One handed operation around small vegetables is not a real option because their is not enough control of the razor sharp edge. Mary at Rogue hoe said this video was a good illustration of the correct use. Is their another video?

My mexican grandmother must be turning over in her grave. Scrape/cutting weeds parallel to the ground... might as well use a weed wacker.. the point of a hoe is to slightly dig the weed out by the root (if done by someone with a steady hand and good aim , there should not be any holes dug out).. secondary purpose is to lightly till the soil

I like the old-fashioned big pole through type hoes. You can find the heads at flea/antique markets. Put your own hardwood handle on it. I expand them first with heat. Many of the wood handles found on big box tools are junk (banana wood?). You can still find American handle makers. It's interesting to watch different hoes work from around the world.
