As someone from Eastern Europe, seeing Rodney Mullen do this in 1994 in Russia must have been like seeing an alien doing magic tricks

That pretty much describes how his sessions look to experienced skaters as well.

lol I found this comment so funny! I think it was the same in America in the early 80's haha.
His control and his balance is impeccable.
Omg! Thanks for these rare gems! Rodney mullen is my idol. Seeing lost footage like this definitely brightens my 2020.

Yea. Definitely a legend...to me when you think skateboarding you think Tony hawk. Until you see Rodney mullin lol. I mean I really love Tony and he's a legend and probably the best ever on a vert. But I see Rodney doing shit that Tony probably has never done. I'd love to see Tony try some of these tricks. Just to see if he could land them. I know I couldn't lol.. the creativity and control and balance Rodney has is impeccable. It's second to none.

@@taylormcgarry470 Tony is a vert skater, Mullen is a freestyle/street skater... They're 2 completely different styles, also Tony has done stuff Mullen could never do like landing the first ever 900 on a half pipe which was a huge moment in skating

@@NukaCola514 yes I know they are 2 different things. Rodney could never land a 900 or maybe some other of his tricks but Tony could probably not do half the tricks Rodney can do. With how i worded that it looks like i was putting Rodney over tony but I'm not trying to put one over the other just admiring the both and watching them blow my mind
Rodney is a skateboard genius❤️
So much better than part 1.
.. his superpower is humbleness.. :) long live rodney!
Rodney..... When you've landed so many tricks, most of which you invented, and have to start inventing them live during a contest.. I remember when he invented kickflips... long live the legend. ❤
Oh my lord, did you guys see that? Awesome!
GOAT 🔥
Things that bring people together- even other countries: music and sports. I can’t believe this video is in your family’s vhs collection. Awesome! Thanks for sharing

Espetacular! Muito bom! 👏👏👏
He does all those tricks in such an effortless attitude it's unbelievable. The skate is truly an extension of his body.
Wow the filmer was excellent too

He wasnt member of contest, because his level too high, if you will compare with other participants. I think he perfomed like a guest.
His use of a popsicle street deck made him half as good as when he actually used a proper freestyle board.. can’t see why he didn’t use a freestyle deck.

Freestyle had died and he needed to change with the times . If he didn't mix street with his flatland his career would have ended. Personally it made him better imho, he was forced to grow. Now freestyle is back again but still a less appreciated element of skating. I've always loved flatland but back in 88 we made fun of it all. When Natas exploded into the scene street became everything even Tony Hawk was out of work and had to pretend he was a street skater LOL.

@@philipandersson4932 Yep but it's all about selling 7.25 popsicle decks. At that time little wheels and double kick generic decks were huge. It is sad , watching Tony Hawk try to street skate is difficult for the eyes also. I hated that time period ..baggy pants and horrible attitudes then drugs became part of the scene. It's taken 30 years to return to what it used to be like. Shaped decks and style is coming back.
