One of Crowells best songs. Waylon did a great rendition to it but ol Rodney is always best. Cool to see both legends perform this classic song

@mikemaiocco2538. I believe that the guitar player behind Waylon Jennings is a young Steuart Smith. Steuart was with Rodney’s backing band “The Dixie Pearls” for many years. These days Steuart is with The Eagles and has been since the early 2000’s. Steuart played guitar and did some production on the last Eagles studio album “Long Road Out Of Eden”.

Rodney Crowell is like wine....he absolutely has gotten better with age. Not to take away from his early successes, which are substantial, but his last four cd's are just friggin' awesome.

Rodney is not underrated. He's known as one of the greatest songwriters. His songs have been covered by many.

Gary Stewart's version was the first I heard. A good one.

Great performances. I love Waylon's reaction to that hot little guitar lick the guy in back plays.

I am sorry, I like Crowell but he does not have that star aurora about him. You can see the contrast between star presence and a fish out of water in this video. Plus, Crowell's voice is not good enough ... for me it so obvious, and I want to like the guy as a singer he seems like a good dude, for sure
