This man is one of the greatest songwriters to successfully written in the idioms of country/rock, folk, texamex and many other styles. You would be suprised who he has written for. Also a great Lyricist. Vince James

Steuart Smith is a stunning guitar player. How he gets overlooked as one of the truly great players is beyond me. He has taste, technique and an empathy to the song that is just brilliant.

I've been an admirer of Rodney's lead guitar player for years...versatile, tasteful, and clean.

What a great show. Cannot get enough of The Houston Kid!

watch rodney on every closeup shot. no matter how long it is, he NEVER blinks.

One of the greats! A true icon!

I love seeing these old clips from when Rodney and Steuart Smith played together. Both great guitarists in their different ways. Works so well together!

Hell of a band!

Brilliant ! Excellent work by Steve Smith lead.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this excellent performance. We were lucky enough to get to see Rodney on his KIN tour a couple of weeks ago. He had Steuart Smith performing with him as a special guest, and man was that show special! There's a magic to Steuart's playing and it really shines when he plays with Rodney. You could tell Rodney was really enjoying himself all through the show. It's a shame they only toured for a limited number of shows and so few got to see them.

I totally agree with what you say about Steuart Smith , he is a fantastic player !

The 2nd song is a medley of Crazy Baby and She's Crazy For Leaving.

Great guitar playing..on an old Strat with a vintage fingerboard radius!...nuff said.

Now that's the way to open a show!

I've seen Rodney twice. Once in Jasper, Indiana and then in Madisonville Kentucky... Didnt get my "Stars on the water" but got plenty of talent to make up for it. 5* both times! Rodney is the best!

Songs that you have liked. Not every thing that a person likes is good. Sweets? Heroin? Bad choices in relationships? Folks like those things, doesn't make them to be good.

Perhaps, but just because someone like you disapproves doesn't exactly make Crowell's songs bad...

Randy Crowell is country & rock and roll. Stuart is a guitar master. Not like other country guitarists. Like his wammy bar technic.

Any idea what effects Steuart uses here? We see him tapping his foot on the board. Yes. the strat sound amazing . Very good. Steuart played on several Rodney's vids. Great every time.

So good. One of the best US singers and songwriters - and it is definately more Rock'n roll than Country for me.

the way the lead guitarist is playing reminds me of the guy who played for the eagles for awhile

Sorry, Steuart Smith. He played a lot with Crowell and his one-time wife, Rosanne Cash. So did the drummer, Vince Samboro.

Pedal Steel Guitar - Tommy Spurlock Bass - Jimmy Hanson Drums - Vince Santoro Rodney along with Steuart Smith, Vince Santoro and Michael Rhodes (RIP) on bass recorded together as The Cicadas. Check out their album of the same name. More of Rodney Crowell's excellent songwriting! Stay safe and well.
