That's close to 10:1 power to weight ratio. Absolut beast. I just purchased all original 67 bug with 1500 motor and had it dynoed. 37 hp to the wheel. Not bad for an 50 years old car and it feel so good driving her. I have 991.5 GT3 with 497 hp and Huracan LP580 spider with 580hp so no need for more cars with speed. Sometimes, it feels good to just chill doing 30 mph lol. Cheers

Well to put it in perspective, my '63 with a 2276cc basement build runs consistent 12.60's. I imagine it's making close to this power, probably a little less. Full bodied all steel and still only 1600lbs max. 1.90 60ft times with stock 165 radials and 1.59 with 6" slicks. All the weight over the drive wheels in the back equals killer holes hole shots!

I just read about a rallycross beetle with 4x4, using a modded porsche 915 transmission with extra shaft for front diff, it also used turbo and subaru legacy cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder and duel overhead cams; at 2.5 bar boost it had 500bhp and upset a lot of other more fancy car drivers!!

I used to slip rubber tubing over the main air bleeds and use holley jets stuck into the tube. I had a set of air bleeds I drilled out so I could use the Holley jets and save myself some money and have jets avaliable to tune with. Once I tubed all the corrections togeather and ran the tube inside to an adjustable main jet for a Solex. It would change the mix on the fly, but it had to vacuum down all that tubing. they like fat in the middle and lean on top. I believe a set up close to the carb

@plasenciapedro I dare say it would be some sort of adhesive such as belt grip. From the looks of things, they were having traction issues which wouldn't surprise me seeing as Beetle's are so light which would also be why they had guys standing on the running boards

ya the float bowls are hanging between the 2 barrels of the carb.. its what takes up the space and holds the 2 barrels together providing fuel for both. there often regarded as having 2 carbs shareing a common bowl. i cant see the floats themselves if thats what your refering to because those are infact in the float bowls out of view unless you pull the upper plate.

@torino390 Theres usually a direct correlation between the speed of the engine and the cooling, i.e. the higher the rpm the faster the fan is spinning creating more cooling. i would imagine though if the engine was at high rpm for a long time then there would be a cooling issue.

This this is bad ass! What people don't consider is power/weight, this thing would rip @ 162hp. Also these things are relatively cheap to build up compared to a modern engine. $6k would buy a cb performance 2332cc kit and some nice carbs and be running 200hp in a car that weighs 1800lbs. Do the math.

Stock transaxle will handle 300hp if it's used sensibly. And 162HP in a bug would be a friggin' major adrenalin trip. More fun than a Mustang and here in NZ WAAAY cheaper to do the bug than the v8!

Good day! The 4th generation Accord (1989-1993) had a choice of 4 different 4 cylinder engines, but no V6 was available for that generation. . . I think you meant the 5th generation which had a V6 (C27A4) as an option. But this car does look slick as it is; also you're speaking of water cooled engines which means running hoses and heat exchangers galore (otherwise you have nothing to cool those other motors).

@MyLifeRSC i got no beef with england. my whole argument was there are better sounding cars than the vw beetle (in my opinion). high end italian cars for example sound good. with the right exhaust, a built KA motor sounds good. audi's 2.7T sounds amazing when paired with the right exhaust. i could go on for days. but in the end, your right, its preference.
