So tired of everyone pretending the genre isn’t ours. . It was started by Welsh, Scot’s Irish and English Americans.

Rod does the influence of English folk on early country a disservice. It was very influential in the Appalachian Mountains.

English too. Why do Americans pretend the English, particularly Northern English, didn't settle in America?

Country has specific ethnic roots, she is wearing it as a skin suit. It’s like Eminem saying he’s Rap and represents it. He’s not.

Some people just can't take the fact, that they and their actions not loved by everyone. Just stop talking, start singing and let the listeners decide what to buy. Otherwise, this is simply about the grift and should be treated as such.

I think black artists can do what they want no one has to buy it - though many people are. Also, one in four cowboys were black so they are entitled to lasso with the best of them.

They didn’t invent the culture tho, just because they wore the hats and shoes and horses the European Americans brought over and made.

@@Cactus_hug Correct me if I'm wrong but country music was created out of traditional British folk music particularly Scots Irish. If so, is it ok for say an Italian or Polish American to sing it and get in on the act? Personally I'm a fan of country and Beyonce, the more music the better as far as I'm concerned. If people feel protective about white country then they can just listen to their choice of artists.

I found it interesting that when Elvis Costello released his country albums Almost Blue (1981) and King of America (1986), many music fans thought he was breaking new ground however, Rod Stewart released his version of Jerry Lee Lewis's What Made Milwaukee Famous as a double A side with a cover of Hendrix's Angel back in 1973 and a very good job he made of both of them!

Beyonce is more country music than most of the people in country music. She's from Texas and grew up at rodeos.

She should have tried some extreme metal genre. This is some shit already taking part in BHM. Really intersectional vibes. Play good musicians, regardless of the performer's race

Country music accepts anyone if they buy into country. Darius Rucker, Kane Brown and many others are very successful country artist because they have a country state of mind. There is more to it than just putting on a Stetson. There is a conservatism to American country life that doesn’t necessarily translate to MAGA Trump voter. But it hankers for a simpler way of life, lifelong friendship based around family, college football, church and alcohol. These people know they are flawed - they lie, they cheat, they drink too much - but won’t accepted being looked down upon by the coastal liberal elites who laugh at their small town state of mind all while those very elites have very little in the way of moral compass themselves.

His definition of bluegrass music is wayyyyy off!! Just because you were born in a huge city in the South, dosent mean you're "country"...even if you're from Texas!!! There's a huge difference. I think Beyonce is great and I enjoy her music no matter what genre but lets not get it twisted.

Rod has lost it. He's moved into a beach house in Malibu. What absurd reactionary nonsense. Life is way too short to find value in corporate pop crud. I do not pay my subscription to read about this. You will not get new subscribers taking this editorial line to what is quite literally woke behaviour modification possibly produced by the CIA or some government cut out.
