Same here. I'm almost 57. Love the early 80s music. Back then I could listen to the radio for hours without a bad song coming on. Still have all my tapes that I recorded of the radio.

@@m.y.o.b.724 Thanks for taking time to answer. All I know is that things were very different back then compare to today. There was no phone or electronic devices to listen to songs over and over unless you bought the music (cassette or record) or listening to the radio. It was hard at the time having a radio device playing all day without electrical power. We were remaning on batteries. They had their limits... So by listening to those songs once in a while instead of 30 times in a row, we were appreciating it more. To my point of view ! And that's probably why we're still listening and liking them today.

Donnie Wayne Howard played bass and sang with Rocky burnette there with Sullivan and burnette that three shows !!!! My bass strings were like razor blades. So cold at 19 degree's!!!!

I heard this song in the car with my wife. we CRANKED IT UP. I have not heard this in YEARS. You just can't be in a bad mood when you hear this song. God, I feel sorry for teenagers these days--their music sucks. And that's not just an old guy saying music was better back in the day--their music SUCKS!!!!!!!!

He is the son of another well known singer Johnny Burnette of the 50s and 60s that died in a drowning accident when Rocky was very young,this was and still is a great song,😊

That's EXACTLY what happened to me this morning! My local radio station started playing it and I was like, "Oh, this is a catchy guitar riff!". Then when the lyrics were going for a little while I was like, "WAIT! I know this song!!". I probably hadn't heard it in at least 35 years. I never would've remembered about this song had it not played today on the radio.

i've had an avalanche of messages about this song the past month or so, and can't work out why. Perhaps the song was used in a tv show or movie. The clip has been up for years.

These are the classics for sure. To bad we no longer have good music today.

I was friends with Rocky in the early 70's and spent time at his Uncle Dorsey's and Aunt Alberta's home in the Valley. He had the purest sound to his voice.

It took me many years to pinpoint exactly what it was that gave this arrangement such a strong 1960s appeal , when one day I heard it played on the radio followed by "And Then He Kissed Me " at which point the penny dropped ! Of course ! This is reminiscent of The "Phil Spector Wall of Sound " ! ( " Then he asked me to be his bride... " ) This is particularly noticeable during " I know it's over cause I've seen the signs " especially with the rich backing vocals . I really love this lush treatment ! Rocky Burnett's other hit " Fallin' In Love " , has also made a connection to the "Shakin' Stevens " style with me , having just recently viewed some videos of this song - especially the live performance video ! 👍

Yep I was thinking along the same lines, and wondered I felt there was another song from that era that was uniquely infectious in a similarly rhythmic way and found it -- Dr buzzard's Savannah bands Cher chez la femme 🎉

The sound of pop radio in the Summer 1980. Alongside 'Emotional Rescue' by the stones and 'Misunderstanding' by Genesis. I spent 5 days driving from the midwest to my first professional job out of college, in CA, in July and these songs seemed to be in constant rotation on radio stations no matter where I was along I-80.

Wow! Remember this when i was a kid. Didn't like it back then, but it's grown on me since.

Good song by Rocky Burdette back in 1980. The 80s Musicians were born in the 1950s. We grew up with some great music from the mid 60s and 70s.
