thank you very much for your comment 👍i never had a 4 channel from mid 90s on the bench. next amp coming in is a 600a4 which is rated 75 watts x4 at 4 ohms. looking forward to dyno that beast 😎👍

There was actually a good deal of skepticism around these amps (ie DSM Series) when they were coming out. People LOVED the HD series amps, and were worried that the new amps wouldn’t ‘measure up’. There were actually rumors that Fosgate was going the ‘lower power, higher sound quality’ route (similar to, say, Orion or Soundstream) with these amps. Luckily, they didn’t. And this Punch 40 actually outpowers the outgoing Punch 45HD by a good amount. Oh, and sound quality seems to be improved as well.

I actually have a couple of these amps, and they are pretty good. They are kind of the ‘red-headed stepchild’ of the Fosgate line, and not considered as desirable as some of the other Fosgate amps. This seems to make them rather cheap compared to other amps. But they work great for either mids/highs or bridged into 2Ω. As far as being ‘low power’, I wouldn’t call them that. Yes, nameplate power is low. But output still greatly exceeds nameplate rating. I was thinking more in terms of my old Hott Setup 2.125. This was rated at 125Wx2 into 4Ω. And it was by no means cheap. But it was EASILY outpowered by a Punch 60.

That's pretty good numbers for an amp of that size!!! I personally have the regular PUNCH 40i amp!!! I used that to push two PIONEER 12"subs impp's in a Band pass box and let me tell you it pushed them pretty damn good!!! Great video!!! I look forward to your next one!!!👍👍👍

Wow I didn't know that the PUNCH 60i amp was capable of putting out in 1ohm!!! I thought it was just 2ohm stable!!! That's something new to me!!! 😱😱😱

I got 90s punch 45 2 them punch 150 2 them 12s subs 45 6x9 speakers doors 4 12 subs by orion

20x2 amp =115.5 x2 or 231 watts in rockford watts lol you gotta love old school rockfords math 😁

back in 94 when i was going to buy a punch 40ix i was asking myself why i should spend 500 german marks for a small 40 watt amplifier. after installation all was clear like the RF- brochure said back then " no hocuspocus-power here - real american watts " 🤣👍👍😎

Probly not. If it could match watts it would not be a clean sound.

thats an interesting point. i dont have amps which can be tested against the oldschool amps. if i get one i would make a video if it being tested 👍
