Since I'm seeing common questions I'll answer here. As for the direction of the grill, it's easily rotated to 4 different positions, I much prefer all openings to the front to keep from walking circles. I'm constantly adjusting the main damper, adding wood and watching the meat. Not to mention it looks better this way. I've already cooked a few times on it and it works great this way. Keep watching, I do show a diffuser plate for indirect heating, a future project might be a plate with holes to perfectly fan out the heat, we can do whatever we want with accessories. There are grooves cut into the 6x6 tube in the grill to allow fat to drain and burn in the chamber, I didn't show that in the build. I'll edit this as repeat questions keep coming, thanks for watching and the support.

@@hammerslap5639 not at all, I love the feedback and want this to turn into a long build series, especially for the next cookers that are coming. With that said, if I see repeat questions it's better to address those early instead of repeating myself over and over. It takes a busy night of responding and cuts down on some of the same things. Take care!

Just a suggestion for future builds. If you are concerned your cylinder is slightly out of round, do not use it as a templet for the sides. Do "the math" and take the 48" circumference and calculate a 15.28" circle. Then fit the cylinder to the new sides. It will then be round. Love the builds, keep them coming!

The got super excited and knew exactly what you were putting together when you started the cup holder addition! But to add the hook for the thermostat and fire poker…🤯🤯🤯!!! Love the modified way of attachment with the pins, too! Can’t wait to see the videos that come out as you get it dialed in as a smoker/sear/grill combo! Absolutely amazed by this attachment! Washing this video and seeing your burn barrel in the background made me think of something that you should probably do. You should make a metal box so you can make your own charcoal. Basically just need a good solid metal box that you can throw into a fire if it’s fairly airtight chunks of wood inside will burn without igniting and turn into charcoal. but with all the metal stuff you’re making and all the grilling and stuff you do plus having the wood and everything it just seems like a good fit for you to make a video with

I built a rocket grill a couple of years ago, but took the easy way out. I had an old Weber gas grill. I gutted it and cut a 4" square hole in the bottom. I had built the rocket out of an old "lolly column"...it already had a square base to it. It works just like yours. You can shut the lid and smoke (we have tons of hardwood) or rev it up and sear steaks or burgers.

I've been thinking of doing a project like this for a long time. But health problems have put a stop to that for how! One thing that I was going to do was off set it to one side. It would be more like cooking in a barrel pit, with your fire on one side. I'm thinking with the size of grill you have, it would give you room for 2 or more rack of ribs. And your drip pan will not be getting as hot. But it looks like it's going great as is! Hope this helps! Great looking grill! Y'all stay safe

You could have made the tube form a circle by putting a plastic bag inside and filling it with water. The water will push on the inside until pressure is equal at every point inside, and the tube will try to form a circle. I've never tried it with steel, it might take more weight., sand might be a better choice in this case

Another thought: I know it’s a rocket stove but there’s no reason you couldn’t add a side chamber on there that mounts on the backside and make it like an offset smoker and on the connection piece you could put a nice damper valve in there, so you could really control the temperatures. I know on the Komodo and green egg cookers you can buy an electric temperature controlled damper as well that opens and closes based on your temperature settings. Just a thought but since you’re building all these accessories for it, my one thought, was that to do a slow cook you Will probably need to keep adding fuel to the rocket stove part, if you just built an attachment that you could take on and off, you could also have it be an offset smoker or you could have a much bigger fire with a lot more fuel choke down that you could run for hours without a lot of maintenance. This looks like a fun project with all the options you can think of

Love the idea of this rocket grill! It's definitely gonna be a great steak and burger grill. I'm very interested to see how it does with some low and slow cooks like ribs or boston butts. I think you may end up needing a thicker deflector plate for that, but time will tell. Subbing to follow these cooks!

Hey Andrew I was thinking that as hot as these ROCKET STOVES get and the flame a ROCKET STOVE can make, why not make a "FORGE" from or for the ROCKET STOVE. A ROCKET STOVE would make for an amazing FORGE the possibilities are endless, like for instance, if given this Awesome ROCKET STOVES /FORGE I could melt the small pieces of LED that I go out looking for to make my very own aLED SINKERS for CATFISH FISHIN'cuz we be needin' some big Weights for them Rivers and so we can cast our fishin' lines really, really far out. Also I would use it to melt down my Aluminum cans and scrap and put it in to like 5 or 10 lbs ALUMINUM BARS makes it easier to sell the aluminum in bars. Saving cans takes a lot of room and then when the wind gets them & throws them all over the yard ugh.. I can also do this for my Copper . It's also easier for me when I take them in for recycling, the recycling place appreciates them in bars instead of all loose. Being on disability really sucks I don't get very much money in my check so I have to do what it is that I can do, but my body is all beat up from all the surgeries I had done throughout the years. I can't work any more even if I wanted to I'm just to warn out there are still a lot of things I can do tho, I mean I can still walk maybe run a little I just cant do the things I use to any more, well at least not for 8hours straight. Lol ... I got an idea,.. If you were to make like a PROTOTYPE with them ATTACHMENTS for melting COPPER, ALUMINUM & STEEL like with one of them CUPS & TONGS & 2 or 3 of them CASTS to pour in the melted COPPER or ALUMINUM and say you were to send it to me in good faith or I can sign a contract saying that I'm showing these off and taking orders for you and if I sold so many I could pay this one off and it will be mine .. and I could keep on selling these for y'all and see where this goes I just know here in Tucson Arizona.. people will buy these up we have some of the best mesquite firewood that you can find.. people around here are always cooking out and being so close to the Mexico border with all the tacos and other Mexican food coming out of this South West border town yes sir this is your gold mine for and thing cooking BBQ, CARNE ASADA WOO Andrew msg me back and see what you think I know I can work with you on this and get um sold and or what ever else you got they say I can sell Ice to an Eskimo. Alejandro Gutierrez. 1-520-354-3700 Or msg. Me back Sir .. look forward to talking with you ... Stay blessed

Now you can make changeable grill, from a smoker, to flat skillet, or oven, ect just by changing the grill to a flat plate ect And you do need some thing to scatter the heat around in it, rather than all coming up from the pipe Maybe a offset on it to, might make for a cool spot and hot spot
