They were 9 members at the beginning, nowadays, they're 8. I really liked the video, it remind me of my first time listening to it. If you loved Side Effects you probably might love Double Knot or Road Not Taken/STOP. Have an awesome week!

I feel dumb admitting this lol, but I recently found you through your Stray Kids reactions (which are awesome btw, I always looove hearing musicians opinions on them) and now I'm getting into YOUR music! I feel like I should've known about Sleeping With Sirens sooner, but better late than never I guess? XD I'll never complain about good music leading me to MORE good music haha, your stuff is awesome!! 🤘 fun fact: "Side Effects" was HATED by the vast majority when it was released (possibly their most hated song ever) and cemented their infamy for making "noise music". psytrance was a genre that had never been used in kpop before, so it shocked a lot of people lol...but Stray Kids stuck to their vision, and it paid off! what's interesting is that a lot of other groups started releasing more "experimental" songs after Stray Kids did it, and now "Side Effects" has come around to being a fan favorite. I've seen fans and haters alike credit them for popularizing the unconventional/experimental/"noise music" trend in kpop. funny how things work out. ;) if you liked this one, you'd probably also appreciate "Cheese", "Silent Cry" and "Wolfgang" off their newest album - all three are very tasty, unusual musical treats in very different ways! their older stuff has a lot of gems too (and LOTS of rock vibes haha) - their debut song "District 9" is a powerful manifesto for all the outcasts and "stray kids" of the world. it's the song that made me officially LOVE them as a group. ❤ "STOP" is another good experimental EDM track, I think of it as "Side Effects" younger cousin. "My Pace" has a joyful, rebellious energy and an awesome message about not comparing yourself to others. "Awaken" is pure angsty 00's rock and my inner teenager loves it. "Choronosaurus" is another musically tasty one with the most hauntingly beautiful bridge...and aaaaaa I need to stop, I've been writing a novel lmao. sorry. XD hope this comment didn't overwhelm you and that we'll see another Stray Kids reaction from you! they have so many wonderful creative songs to dig into and I love hearing your thoughts about them!

And you haven't even touch other masterpieces like Maze of Memories with crazy switch ups and Tortoise and the Hare a song that is witty with genius lyrics. Or songs with emotional journey such as Grow Up and Silent Cry. By the way nice writing. You could do an autobiography of Stray Kids and I would stuck reading it.

aaaa dude i'm so glad you liked this song. when it first came out, it was super controversial because it was super out of the box? not many people liked it, stray kids faced a lot of backlash and hate for it but many people like to say that they revived the psytrance genre in some places with it! in my opinion, this song brought them a lot of attention, especially with how the song was structured! the storyline is... incredibly long and hard to explain 😭 a little explanation for this video i guess is when you see the screen split into two different scenes in the music video is two different timelines! one where they follow the path every else chooses (top) and one where they go their own way(bottom). I recommend you read the poem Road Not Taken by Robert Frost because that's a really big clue in to their storyline! It also happens to be the title of another song of theirs. the whole storyline in a nutshell is just how they're forging their own path instead of following others, and it starts allllllll the way before they debuted! the predebut song is hellevator and the debut song is district 9! if you ever want to get into it, I'm sure I can find you some accounts or videos to follow if you wanna know more! besides all that, there are 8 members! one of them left for reasons I will not disclose, you can find that out for yourself and although I'm not neutral to the situation, I don't want to come off badly about it so I'll stay quiet. In order of age, it goes Chan(leader), Lee Know (or Minho, you might hear a lot), Changbin, Hyunjin, Han (or Jisung you may also hear a lot), Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. (or Jeongin, you may hear that a lot too 😭)The group has official subunits of rap, dance and vocal! they all have different content and there's a lot to see from Stray Kids, the content really never ends, but it is so worth it. Glad to welcome you to the fandom! We're called STAY, you will see in the end of their videos a lot, they say, 'Stray Kids everywhere all around the world, you make Stray Kids Stay' and basically they're calling to all the kids that feel lost or confused and saying that they have a purpose and that they can always come to Stray Kids :] sorry for this long comment but I really wanted to get everything out so you have a little more insight! thank you for the reaction, I love Sleeping with Sirens too, you guys are awesome ^^

Actually "Side effects" is a psytrance (psychedelic trance) music and apparently they are the FIRST ever kpop group to use that genre. The song might be loud and different, but the song "side effects" They used trance music, which it calms down the limbic brain and brings down stress. When you thought the song might give you headache, they actually calm you down. The video is quite different because it's part of their storyline. But the lyrics is about having regrets and anxiety that comes as a consequence after making a decision. The listener might feel uncomfortable while listening to the song. But that's the purpose of it, they're trying to express it how it feels like. It gives them discomfort feeling when doubting their choices, never fully confident in their own decision for the fear of failure and inability to overcome the challenges at hand. They're are really geniuses for using that genre. But you'll be surprised if I tell you this is their most hated song and have been titled by antis as "noise music" and after God's Menu released antis titled them again as "construction music" but Stray kids took that as a compliment and made and album called NOEASY can also pronounced as "noisy"

Honestly this song wasn’t a huge hit when it came out! People started considering Stray Kids music “noise music” or “construction music” as a way to hate on them because of songs like this. Stray Kids inevitably used that to their advantage though and embraced those haters comments which can be seen in the God’s Menu Music video as the scenes show noisy atmospheres (the beginning being in the kitchen with brass instruments or being on a race track) as well as showing them on a construction site. This embracing the haters is also seen with their new album being called NOEASY which not only sounds like NOISY when said but also all the promotional images for it made the three lines in the E and the A blend in more to the background so it does read as NOISY! Even though this song wasn’t popular it was a song that started a brand for them and they really embrace it well! I’m glad you enjoyed this song it’s always been one of my favorites and I hope you enjoy more from stray kids!

-When this song and their previous songs were released in 2019 and 2018, they were 9 members but one of them left the group and became 8 now , The first single released song eight-member group was “astronaut”, followed albums “levanter”, “go live”, “in life”, and “noeasy”. -You need to listen to their song before debut which is “Hellevator” and also the debut song, which is “District 9” The whistles at the beginning of the song make you go crazy and after that it's followed by the great rap from Lee Know It's a great intro I hope you listen to it it’s a really great song , also followed by “my pace and “i am you” and “Miroh” Thank you for looking forward to Stray Kids songs ☺️🤍🤍

IDK maybe you wont read this, but I need to let it out somewhere. I feel like I'm dreaming, seeing my two worlds colliding right now sdfghk I've been loving your music for years and as a rock and metal lover I'd never thought I'd enjoy something else, but with stray kids? I feel like with their beats, their vibe and overall who they are and how they produce their music i couldnt help but being captivated by it. I'm seeing so many metalheads even among STAY that now enjoy SKZ too, i feel like something here is similar, their sound, the dedication to their music, producing, composing, writing, you can feel it all. It's really wholesome to see you reacting to them Nick, especially since Sleeping with sirens has always been one of my favorite rock bands so my respect for you is huge. I look up to you so much that seeing you appreciate another part of "me" beside the kind of music that you guys make and that i adore is really unmatched, especially cos there's many of us in the SKZ fandom. So thank you from all of us. Also, quick note: Side Effects is big BIG for stray kids, not only cause they got shit for it, people criticizing it cause it didn't fit in the kpop industry and was basically an hazard (skz really have full control over their own music since the company almost doesnt get a say in their creative process), stray kids decided to go all in with it, full knowing it could be badly received from the general public. that's what happened, but as much as many people criticized it, others really took it as a turning point in kpop, Side Effect has been the first Psytrance track in kpop and SKZ have been the first using this genre in the industry; after they did it, other bands started using it as well. So it's controversial as many good things are, it's a subject that's been discussed by many people but, to me, side effects remains the unbothered queen in their discography.

Thanks for the interest to stray kids, they are young lads but very passionate and talented. They are not afraid to challenge themselves and get creative. Loving you react to Stray Kids… they are my favourite band and I really enjoy seeing others discover them. The beat drop on Victory Song is so epic… there are two versions. Original is music video shot in an underground structure giving such amazing scenes and visuals. Second is a performance they did for the MAMA 2020 awards show. They were not nominated for anything even though they had an incredible year but were told with very little time to prepare to put together a performance to promote a show (Kingdom) they were competing on. Bang Chan devised this whole God of War concept and used Victory Song (a b-side track) to perform. You can feel the anger from these guys through the screen, it hits so different to the original but is no less powerful. Especially when you remember that they went on to win the Kingdom show. Victory Song, Red Lights, Drive, Grrrr, Wolfgang, Up All Night, Miroh, Side Effects, Easy, Double Knot, All In and Any are my favourites… but then I could listen to everything they’ve ever produced and still not tire of them.

There was SO much controversy when Side Effects released in 2019 bc Stray Kids was the first group to use psytrance in kpop and they were criticized for making “noise music” A lot of kpop groups have storylines and lore in their discographies, Side Effects is the 2nd part of the Clé (“key” in French) series. *SKZ ALBUMS* 2018 I Am… trilogy series: I Am Not, I Am Who, I Am You 2019 Clé trilogy series: Clé 1: Miroh, Clé 2: Yellow Wood, Clé: Levanter 2020: GO Live, IN Life 2021: NOEASY (play on word for Noisy and Not Easy) Album Here’s a quick run down- 2018: becoming a group and finding their identity 2019: taking on a journey independently making their own music and experimenting with different genres 2020: found themselves, God’s Menu solidified their sound and identity in the industry. Korean media described Stray Kids’ as pioneers of the malamat genre or mala taste genre in kpop. “Mala” means spicy in Korean and Stray Kids sound is described to be very high energy and hot and leaves listeners wanting more. 2021: half the NOEASY album is basically diss tracks fighting back at the haters, especially the intro song CHEESE (which I think you would really like). The album talks about the haters criticizing their music (Side Effects and God’s Menu) as noise music and explaining how their journey so far these past 3-4 yrs hasn’t been easy but they grew from those hardships and they’re happy with where they’re at in their journey. I’m really happy you like Side Effects! It’s a masterpiece and one of my top fav skz songs. The youngest member I.N is the one screaming in the song :) looking forward to your next reaction and more SWS music! My next Stray Kids recommendation would either be CHEESE, District 9, or Miroh

Ah thank you for another reaction video to stray kids! I just love this song son much because for me it feels like a musical representation of what anxiety is like. How it builds and builds and then finally you have a full on anxiety attack where your whole mind/body feels like it's going crazy. Also the lyrics of the bridge are so wonderful. "I swallow pills called baseless confidence, maybe I took too many now I'mm feeling more worried than confident" and "the side effects are kicking in against my will" SO GOOD. I definitely recommend checking out their songs Voices and Hellevator next! (also, can't wait for more music from SWS hopefully soon!) :)

This song was universally panned in Korea by critics and public when it came out. 3racha somewhat anticipated it (probably told by JYPE that this song was not going to be popular) but they didn't back down from making it a title track. This song cemented my admiration for SKZ. They really did want to forge their own path and identity, not pandering to trend or public opinion. This song came out when SKZ was under a a lot of pressure internally (stuff going on with the soon departed Woojin) and externally (being criticized for making noisy music). 3Racha set up themes in their albums in 2018 and 2019. 2018 is "I Am" (looking for self) era. 2019 is Cle (French word Key because they were searching for the external answer) era. This song is the title for the 2nd Cle album. The prelude song is called "Road Not Taken"; the meaning is pretty obvious. Side Effect talked about SKZ members' condition while sticking to the road they chose. They were called the top 3's failure (top 3 management companies usually produce top level idol groups). They were not known in Korea. They didn't win any music show during comeback. They didn't sell many CDs. But they didn't quit or change direction. Even when one of the members left under murky circumstances. The last 3 months of 2019 were terrible times for SKZ. This song was like a precursor for what's to come. Interesting thing is, although Side Effect was considered a failure in Korea. This song was embraced by many international fans. Something about this song just screams rebel with a cause. I have heard so many Stays (the fans of SKZ) saying that this song is their favorite SKZ title track or the song that hooked them into SKZ world.

Their discography consists now of about 100 songs, so there is a lot more to discover. All their songs are pretty great In my opinion. Plus they do other things outside of the group. Hyunjin was selected as Artist of the Month for Oct 2021. If you want to see great dancing you can watch his performance MV. Seungmin recorded a song for the Kdrama Hometown Cha Cha Cha now on Netflix, and this year Stray Kids participated in a program competition called Kingdom, and they won. They are super talented!

The screams were done by the youngest (I.N, the screen was focused on him when you paused) and the oldest member (Bang Chan, curly blonde with a headband, screams while running at the end). I'm sure others have pointed it out but this song was quite controversial (sound-wise) when it came out and many people still like to criticize it. Personally, it was the song that drew me into skz, and considering that I'm also a rock/metal fan, maybe we just like "noisy" music more than the average person :) The kids get a lot of hate for making music like this that's different and noisy, but rather than getting discouraged by it, they own the labels such as "construction music" and "transformer BDSM" and use them as confidence boosters. You could see some of their attitude in Thunderous and God's Menu. They also have a song that's pretty much directed right at their haters called "CHEESE" and references both God's Menu and Side Effects ("do you find du du du du du du funny?" - God's Menu's du du du chorus; "is a headache funny?" - Side Effect's chorus "my head hurts"). They can say all that with confidence because all of their music is their own creation, from the tracks and melodies to the lyrics. Others have recommended songs similar to Side Effects, I'd like to recommend songs that have a rock influence instead! Awaken (no music video but there's a reason I'm listing it first), District 9, Red Lights, Ya Ya Ya, Beware, My Pace... Chronosaurus gets a special mention just for the typical rock sound of the drums. And CHEESE which I've mentioned before! Even if you don't react to them, it would be wonderful if you could just listen to them in your own time. I promise that the entire skz discography is worth it! Thanks so much for being insterested in Stray Kids, I'm sure that once Chan gets a wind of it he'll be extremely happy :) Hoping to see him play some of your songs during his vlives!!!

I’m so glad you love this one!!! I think it’s highly underrated, but it’s one of my favorite K-pop songs of all time! If you like this one, take a look at “District 9”. It was their debut track, but definitely doesn’t sound like it! Also, for something completely different, check out “Red Lights”. It’s a Stray Kids special project that features only Hyunjin and Chan. Visually and auditorily stunning. I could suggest so many others, but since you’re a musician yourself, I highly recommend watching their live performances from the Kingdom competition! “Wolfgang” and “God’s DDU-DU DDU-DU” are impressive to say the least. Looking forward to more of your reactions! And if you decide to delve more deeply into K-pop, don’t hesitate to ask for suggestions. It’s such a diverse music scene, and the quality is always on point!

basically this song talks about anxiety or that's how I interpret it, when they say "my head hurts", "why doesn't it stop? I keep hearing annoying noises" or "why am I changing countless times according to the environment around me" are parts that give you to understand that, besides that the "noisy" sound pretends to interpret those "voices" in our head that make a lot of noise. btw this song was criticized and hated a lot for being noisy because psytrance was a genre that had never been used in kpop. anyway i'm dying of happiness rn, my favorite rock band and my favorite kpop band together, it's a dream 😭😭

i've been really enjoying watching your kpop related videos. i've been a sleeping with sirens fan since 2012, and a stray kids fan since 2018 so its very fun to watch my "worlds collide". as some people have mentioned side effects was HEAVILY criticized when it was first released. they got a lot of hate for it. screaming in a song?? completely unheard of in kpop. korea doesn't really have an industry for heavy music. even the few popular korean rock bands are usually on the softer/pop rock side. this song is so outside of the usual cookie cutter pop song that the korean general population likes. they got heavily scrutinized. a lot of the themes for god's menu are based off the criticism they recived for making "noise music". in god's menu they're literally banging pots together while singing lyrics about how good they're at making music. skz are a very unique kpop group. the kpop industry is very "fabricated" and very few groups actually write their own songs. even less have the absolute creative freedom skz has. you should see their song credits, its impressive how 90% of the credits is just the same 3 members and 1 or 2 additional producers. they've made and published over 100 songs in less than 4 years.

Okay so I'm still a new stay so I'm still learning the back story so correct me if I'm wrong but basically in the beginning stray kids was in this universe where everything was the same so they spent a while trying to figure who they are (I am not, I am who, and I am you) they created their district (district 9) as a way for them to find themselves and break out of the system they ended up leaving that place and went into a program called miroh (clé 1: miroh) clé meaning key in french and miro meaning maze and the h stands for either heaven or hell because they do not know where this path will lead them if it'll be somewhere good or somewhere bad but Miroh ended up staying the same like the system so they used the key they found in miroh and went into an elevator with took them to yellow wood (clé 2: yellow wood) wich was split into two universes one where they get on a bus and other where they travel alone and experience struggles but help eachother along the way so basically one is the easy path the path most people take (them in the nice bus) or the road not taken (the run down trailer thing which also ends up being an apocalyptic world and in shown with two moons in the video and the two universes become one when the two moons eclipse(which is shown in gods menu)) also I.N is consious in both of these universes theh found another key and a ticket that would take them to a new word but they found out itll just be another trap to get them back into the system so they burned the ticket and the elevator (clé levator) wich made the two moons become one meaning the two universes join together and they finish found their true selves (Also chan explains this in the stray kids prequel highlight real)

I’m so glad to see that I just saw the post of your reaction on Twitter and it actually reminded me that I have listened a lot to Sleeping With Sirens back in my highschool years and I’m diving back into your music~! As for Stray Kids - they are one of my ultimate favourite kpop groups and how much they put themselves into the lyrics and all parts of the production is breathtaking and motivating in its own way. Maybe not immediately but looking more thoroughly into the lyrics (w/ translation etc.), you start seeing more of yourself in them, that you have been through the same thing and the song will start hitting much more. Nevertheless their songs helped and are still helping so much and I’m forever thankful that have discovered Stray Kids for myself. From what others have already recommended to you, I’d like to point out their separate OST release "Hello Stranger" which has rocky vibes and obviously "Victory Song" especially their MAMA 2020 performance of that - it’s just soooo gooooood!!! As for the psytrance genre of Side Effects - if you’d like to hear more of it, there is another kpop group that might interest you, which is Dreamcatcher. The start of their latest song trilogy Dystopia "Scream" is also in the psytrance field of the genre, followed by "Boca" and "Odd Eye". They are the first kpop group who were able to integrate kpop and krock sounds into their music. So you can start here with the latest trilogy and then, if you want more, check out their debut “Chase Me" and next "Goodnight". Hope you’ll enjoy them. Also would like to recommend to you check out the latest release of another kpop group Pixy "Addicted". They are new to the scene of kpop as they have debuted only at the start of this year. I think that you might like the track and the MV itself~ Looking forward to more reactions from you, have a nice day✨

I love that even though you don't record every reaction, you let us know which ones you've heard! All their songs are amazing. The most known scream was by I.N./Jeongin [I.N. is his stage name (pronounced eye-ehn, like the letters)] There are several Stray Kids Guides, but my person favorite is one by TeaNoSuga Reacts. It was completed at the beginning of 2021 so anything about their NOEASY and some of the singles that came out this year aren't mentioned, but it's a really good place to start and learn some basics about Stray Kids. Also I know many Stays (the fans name if you weren't informed yet) would love a reaction video to it if you have time and the ability. The fans will usually add extra info about them that wasn't covered in the video and it also gives you some sneak peeks of their array of discography and talent.

I absolutely love Side Effects, but it was met with alot of mixed reviews when it first came out, like some people just thought it was too noisy, and those people have no taste, lol As for recs, "BackDoor," follows after "God's Menu" "The Tortoise and the Hare," "Scars," "DoubleKnot, " "Cheese," "Easy", "Ta," "My Pace," and "Blueprint" would be my other reccomendations, vaguely in that order, atleast to start off with, lol Oh, one more, "Victory Song," but the version that's live from like a year ago
