Rock Lomond: The day Oasis took Balloch Park by storm
Oasis played a barnstorming concert near Loch Lomond on this day 25 years ago.
Tens of thousands of people squeezed into Balloch Country Park for two consecutive nights in what remain among the most memorable outdoor gigs on Scottish soil.
For brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, it was a triumphant return to the country where they were discovered three years earlier, in 1993.
By August 3, 1996, they had released their hugely successful albums Definitely Maybe and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? and the STV News cameras were in Balloch that day to capture the electric atmosphere.

I was at day 2 I think. The seahorses and bootleg beatles and ocean colour scene. Whatever day that was. Someone who reads this will know what day it was. What a day, what a gig. Probably best in my life

I was there it was a great show.
I was there on the Saturday aged 21 and a bit. Can barely remember it.
I was there on the Sunday. A sea of Ben Sherman shirts, but what a day out, me and the gf sat next to the tree on the left of the stage.
I used to be a taxi driver in Balloch. Someone owed me a big fare (about £10 in those days) and they get in the cab at Gateway and apologised and gave me a spare ticket to make up for it. Great gig and ended up going for a beer with Fast Eddie and Evan later. I added the fast eddie bit so you know it is genuine

Where's the gig footage? I'm sure it was recorded. There were bits of songs shown on the news and music programs. I was there with my brother on the Saturday. I remember the plastic bottle fight during Black Grape. Hundreds of them were getting launched one side to the other and back again for a few minutes.
