I'm an antiquarian bookseller. When we sell a rare book overseas we make sure that the packaging will sustain a nuclear blast with no consequences for the content. You can't trust the courier, even if it's the best in the world. Once, DHL UK just tossed a 30-pound 3-feet-long antique atlas into the front porch of our customer house. Well. Often the firearms shipped by the auction house are historican pieces and/or were (probably) sold for hundreds if not thousands of dollars, so they have a big incentive to make sure it gets to it's new owners safely. Amazon on the other hand usually ships small items that are still currently manufactured and are worth less than a thousand dollars. If they goof up the shipping and something gets damaged they'll probably just send you another one. And, on top of that, items worth more than a hundred dollars tend to have their own shipping packaging in their own boxes (Chairs, Computers, Ect...).

On top of that packaging job being somewhat beautiful I also want to point out what was somewhat ingenious about it. Instead of using clear packaging tape on the bubble wrap (which can be overkill and can result in damage to the thing being shipped when it's opened) they wrapped the bubble wrap in cling-wrap instead. It keeps the bubble wrap from coming open (like tape) but is fairly easy to remove (unlike tape).

It was a actually kind of a shitty job lol)Anyway, a lot of drivers routes are planned literally down to the minute to minute. Not only are they delivering stop to stop, but also sorting packages in the back at the same time. Moving fast means they gotta move packages fast. Sometimes shit gets tossed. They dont want to admit it but it happens. Id rather the extra packaging than not after ive seen delivery up close.!!! I never found it to be a language problem, but an apathy and time problem.

Love the packaging, and you are going to have to talk about the Ishapore.
"Hey Ian, your package is here." "FIX BAYONEEEEEEEETTTTTS!"
yeah what about the 2nd box but they are a great auction i live in the chicago area and my buddys aunt got good money for his uncles firearms after he passed great channel keep it up
Awesome!
Great, but what was in the OTHER box?!?
here in Sweden we gotta ship the bolt and the rifle in two separate boxes, a good idea imo
I love you videos
You should do a run & gun of the Ross vs the SMLE. I would be interested to see it in comparison without 'war tolerance' issues that plagued the Ross. Maybe a .455 Webley -or a new service colt - as the 'pistol' half. How does the 'p14' style sights stack against the Ross mkIII ladder? Any preference? Cheers!

Unfortunately, this Ross turned out to have some reliability issues, and isn't really practical to use in one of the matches. I am still on the lookout for another one, though.

Forgotten Weapons Could those issues be rectified, if you were to swap out a couple parts - magazine, extractor, etc - with the previous Ross? I am not saying to permanently modify it , mind you, just to see it perform in a competition setting. The more I think about this, the more I want to see it!

Forgotten Weapons What're the issues? Most Rosses are pretty easy to work on provided they've got rifling left.
How do you decide which guns to buy?
That is some packaging when i got my lee enfield mk4 it was packed ok but not like that
another great one Ian!
Did youever buy that Charlton Conversion Rifle?
Oh Ian whenever I win the lottery and can afford to start buying some of these beautiful pieces of history remind me to buy you one of what ever you want at one of these auctions. Until then I'll let you know when I can afford to eat and buy ammo for the firearms I own do you know I'm on my way there
Old video, I know, but what else but a bayonet would you use to open the box?

I've got a crap Chinese replica of an M1 bayonet that I use as a letter opener. The *real* bayonet gets treated special...
Nice Mark 3! I tried to register on the forum recently and it was disabled, I was actually wondering about the Siamese Mausers you have(had?), I have one but it's sporterized and I was wondering if you had, or knew where to get a stock for it. Either way, great videos (especially the Ross vid) I like every single one.
Never thought I be seeing an unboxing video on this channel.
You could play pass the parcel with those boxes.
Nice package 👍
I have that same bayonet Ian if you have any info on it please share I've looked it up but no luck
what kind of boots are you rocking?
Hi Ian. big fan here: Is there a chance that you show your favorite personal guns in a video? Greetings from Uruguay.
Go to the web site (forgottenweapons), and look at the top of the right sidebar.
Impressive packing.
You should make an unboxing vid for all of the cool items you get
I like your box cutter lol
Are you using an old west German fighting knife ?
It's like watching a long haired kid on Christmas morning
congratulations wit your new rifle :)
Talk about safe packaging!
did you buy these or did they give them to you?
what about the other box?
So upon opening, how do you determine which one is the business end ?

That's why the bolt is packed separately.
yo dawg, i heard you liked boxes...
Good choice dude ;) :) And the other gun is a good choice too :)
What was in the other box ?
that must be terribly tedious opening it,and what was the other rifle?
I used to drive trucks and i'll tell ya why they wrap all that stuff up, its manly the people who load the truck some of them can't read, or don't understand english, i have had loads with crap tossed about everywhere where words stamped on the boxes like this end up well it wasent up, Or fragail handle with care, gets launched in the truck, saw that happening when i went inside the place to get my paperwork sighned, not to mention the pitted roads in certain parts of the country. and also your vids are awsome and to the point

citizen23606 Also the extreme time crunch that a lot of delivery people are under!!! I worked for UPS for a while as a 'helper/assistant' (when I was right out of high school and needed a job, they paid a dollar over min wage. I thought it was great...

Fate of Freight. That's a good movie name.
"What's in the box?!?!?!"
No wonder ship out is such a stage. it must take a good half hour per gun to prep for shipment.
They don't mess around.
What about the other box? Another Ross?
What was in the 2nd box????
Nice Ross btw:)-John in Texas
I don't know what would be more fun.. the bubble wrap or the rifles
What was in the second box??
Well done.
Soooo....what was in the other box.... Hm, these guys sure know how to pack! And it prevents someone accidentally reassembling and fire the gun (with a cartridge, he by coincodence had in found in the bottom of his pocket....)
