I live in Reno and visit the Moon Rocks a few times a year, it's a great place not just for rock crawlers, many miles of great trails and dirt roads for motorcycles, atvs and side by sides surround this amazing location, always a great time when we go there. Something for ever level from beginners to advanced.

Auto is the way to go unless you have dual cases. Dual cases is like having auto but you still have to mess around with a clutch pedal.

@@richardwilson3379 I've wheeled both auto and manual. Especially rock crawling I'd never go with auto. So much less control. Throttle is all you have in auto, plus an auto will freewheel when going downhill. I'm not seeing how dual cases is like auto? It's a gear multiplier giving you the option to choose an extremely low range 1st gear low + low would be barely moving at idle but enough torque to climb a tree

@@veteranheavyequipmechanic4990 around here auto comes in handy. You dont want to be messing around with your clutch while hanging off a cliff or on a steep hill with boulders. Clampy is a legend to us Toyota guys... I've got an 89 22RE 4Runner on 35's and a 95 4Runner with a 1KZ-Te diesel swap, SAS'd on 37s and i grew up reading Petersen's and drooling over the UA trucks, especially Jon Bondurant's (sp?) 2st Gen 4Runner.

I was just wondering the other day if you still had the free farm truck. I'll never forget the story about it in Petersen's, circa 2000 or 2001 where you installed the Total Chaos suspension and went to the dunes. "We Jump Clampy!" was the cover story. Lots of stuff has changed since then. Fred you're looking more and more like David Frieburger's twin every day. I'm digging the '79-'83 grille on there too.
