Bluth is known for never liking the end result of the movies he's worked on. I think the only one he's proud of was Secret of NIMH.

And Speaking of "Vinyl Paint" at 0:15, I Started to buy Cel-Vinyl colors from the official website of its inventors, Cartoon Color Company (est. 1947 in Culver City, California), on Christmas 2008 and Right Now I Have A LOT Of Cel-Vinyl Paint in my growing Studio (Michael Igafo-Te'o Animation Film Studio) which is almost ready to move from the basement to the GIANT 2-CAR GARAGE AT THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR TO MY FAMILY HOUSE IN JACKSON, MICHIGAN IN Mid-Spring 2013! I Have Autism & I Love 2D Animation

He loved NIMH. Have you seen the special DVD feature with the making of segment. Most of what Poly said was right. Bluth was just okay with American Tail. He didn't expect it to succeed due to the trouble he went through to make it and all the cuts he had to make for time. But he definately hated most of the 90's films, one in particular being Pebble and the Penguin. He didn't even want to be credited as the animator for it.

I saw the scene where the CG model was modeled in a computer and printed on the printer simular to Xero animation

I'd totally love it if I could see the storyboards for the "We Hate the Sun" number in full view. At least, I can see most of them from 1:28 to 2:12.

Interesting Factoid: Did You Know that Edmund as a kitten is actually a "modified" version of the title character off of Don Bluth's "Banjo The Woodpile Cat"? :3 I've Seen This Movie on VHS A Couple of Times ever since I first saw this and now it's still on DVD and it's on Instant Queue Netflix for the first time! :)

@ChronoKnuckles2 Actually, Cambridge's Animo was used on all the WB Feature Animation films except Looney Tunes Back in Action (which is where Toon Boom was used), and all the DreamWorks traditionally-animated films, as well as Swan Princess (which was produced by Rich Animation, used Animo. But you were right about Toon Boom being used on Rugrats Movie, though.

This is interesting. I wasn't aware that any major American animated films were still using cel painting in the 90's. I thought they had all gone over to digital coloring.

@PolyBrow To me whether you use cels or digitaly coloring doesn't matter, they both have pros and cons. All that matter's is that the animation is presented well and does it's job in your project, and that job is to give the "Illusion of life" so to speak.

@PolyBrow Even as someone who regularly works in Adobe Photoshop to color my art, I have to say I hope the art of cel painting will continue somewhere in the world of animation. I never realized that Rock-a-Doodle used it, but now that I think of it, I always did think it had a 1930's or 40's cartoon look to it, so I guess that's part of what created that look.

Where the hell was the location of that last shot? HAHAHAHA Why was Don Bluth just standing at some filthy construction site talking about the magic of animation?

Why not just upgrade to Toon Boom Animate and have that take care of the ink & paint for you? Its much cheaper, and it speeds up production. I remember when I talked to an animation expert that I wanted to use cels in my cartoons instead of digital paint, he talked me out of it saying its a expensive, menial waste of time that should be spent on the creative process of animation.
