Iconic is an understatement, the car and driver both.

nothing truly beats the sound of a straight 5 cylinder engine. the Group B Quattro is definitely using the sound to make it a dream car for most petrolheads

I could listen to that Quattro all day every day, music to my ears

So 500hp more and almost 40 years later, not homologation rules and still slower. Aha good future technology.

@@PressurenFlames Correct, the tires are the limit. The FC1X had way too wide tires for the conditions in this race. They ran it with proper tires after the event and it was absolutely bonkers!

Yeah, this wasn't flattering for the EV. The Audi Quattro Gr.B and Gr.4 cars are infamous for having the engine cantilevered so far over the front wheels that all they ever wanna do is understeer. Stig is having to seriously toss that thing around to counteract that.....and still beat the FC1 by a not-insignificant margin. Shows just how damn heavy EVs are, and how badly that impacts their ability to take corners at speed on any surface. Give it time tho - the tech is still in its relative infancy.

Too much torque makes it worse for traction in snow and ice. My powerful quattros of today and one of them is tuned to high torque levels are much slower from a start compared to my prior A6's from 2008 and 2001 A6 v8 which was the best for hard acceleration in snow and rain and would accelerate quickly to 60 in deep snow with hardly any slipping side to side.

Helio chillin' like a boss.

I timed them, just standing next to the start-finish line with my iPhone, but I got it to about 1:41 for Stig.

Great driver great machine !! Stig is magnificent👌👌

At 1:54 it's like the Quattro is roaring to show its dominance i absolutly love it !!

I was hoping the Quattro would win so much 🤩 No doubt d EV is fast but the sound of a combustion engine is just music 🥰

I might sound dumb for asking, but Would it be possible to make electric cars fun? I mean, simracing is all about electric signals. We have all sorts of petrol cars in simracing replicated down to the last bolt. Why can't they do it for tailored electric sports cars, at least the power delivery side of things?

Couldn't agree more. Boring, sterile, bland, dull and soulless is how I would describe electric motorsport. Motorsport isn't necessarily about the speed, efficiency and lap times, it is about passion, character and heart, which is something electric motorsport is desperately lacking. This is obviously my opinion of course.

What electric cars are you guys watching? The FC1-X sounds like a banshee. Same ol fluff I've heard watching nearly any and every advancement in racing tech throughout the years. Cars have been getting faster, quieter, safer and more advanced way before E racers. The "soul" you speak of was lost 30-40years ago. Electric ain't gunna change jack.

I have zero interest in electric motorsport. Once you have messed around with the oily parts of an internal combustion engine and have an appreciation for them, in my eyes there can be no interest in electric motorsport no matter how fast or capable. The engine is so much the heart of the character of each vehicle and with the electric world that means the heart is gone. The S1 is a beast. Love it.

Because, you keep telling, how it is only about tires. Yeah, it is important, but even if it make such difference... The fact, that old quattro kicked 2022 EVs ass is just alarming. Todays technology should be such superior, that even a little bit worse tires, shouldnt matter (i highly doubt, that even worst case tires they can put on it are bad tires).

Well done Stig, that was brilliant. The Quattro is a monster that sounds amazing, looks fantastic and makes me want it badly but the electric car with all its technology is so uninspiring no matter how quickly it goes I dont want one.

Legend group b was the most incredible rally ever!! Face to face a pure rally sound car with a battery car.

The funny thing is, the S1 was far away from „driven on the limit“.. and yes i know, it’s NOT THE BEST RALLYE CAR ever build.

Well observed comment. The S1 would not have been a match for an RS200 or 205T16 around here, even with Mr Blomqvist! And yet it still made mincemeat of the battery operated thing. Says it all about the "future" we've somehow let unelected megalomaniacs attempt to herd us all into...
