Hello there! May I ask how well the Pla pins hold the joints? Are they loose? Would it be better to pin with metal rods? Would screws be an option? Thank you for your time.

Hello, and thank you for revealing your interest in Robotech 3D Printing Model as well as your mindful approach towards the robot’s assembly. Well, indeed on the model’s page in the “Description” tab, we suggest that the model should be assembled with 1.75 PLA pins (www.gambody.com/3d-models/macross-robotech). On the same tab, you can see that the suggestion applies to the updated version of the model, the FFF/FDM 2.0 version. The model can be assembled without glue or screws but you will need additional “pins” to secure the parts. In the assembly video, the suggested pins are coloured yellow. You see, the 1.75 PLA pins proved to be the most optimal variant enabling most enthusiasts to obtain a satisfactory result and good hold. However, that would be a mere recommendation, not an obligation, and upon your wish, you can choose other suitable material you’re used to working with. In case you have any alternative at your disposal that ensures firmer hold, for instance, you surely can go for screws, upon your wish. Does each piece require supports in the print?
