it really isnt like that,there are entire services like vpns and incogni created with the purpose of protecting your data,it only looks like the internet isnt reacting all that much to this because many of these sites collected info about you a decade ago,there is still outrage if a major site(today likely subscription based) begins to take your data also theres lots of kids in roblox and this could get them sued for the same things that youtube did when they collected kid private info

The difference with Roblox is... A lot of people have given a scan of their ID, yes the scan is not stored but name, age, date of birth (basically everything you need to identify a person, yes really). Which means the data sent is 100% true and not just an estimation. Same with discord, they send gender informmation to advertisers now, just after they added a pronoun feature... Advertisers found out they don't need complex algorithms when the people just give up their data outright

I think Roblox’s notoriously subpar security is part of why players got more upset when Roblox is collecting data. Also next to no one trusts companies to not track their data when there’s an option to turn off tracking.

if roblox wasn't primarily a kids game, i would be somewhat okay with it. websites do this all the time. twitter (x), instagram, facebook, even youtube and google. HOWEVER, the problem is that MILLIONS of users are under the age of 18. because, you know, it's a KIDS GAME. there is literally a LAW against collecting or selling the data of a minor, hence why COPPA exists. if roblox does actually go through with this, there might be a ton of lawsuits headed their way.

i think that this affects users above 13. I don't know more about coppa, so correct me if im wrong, but I assume that users above 13 year old can give consent to sell their data. But, what I majorly think is important is that, they should separate that consent from ToS.

This isn't gonna affect us in any way.

That might be a very big problem for Roblox on all sides, and advertisers too. Roblox due to some countries willing to *slightly* force them to keep certain users data to be private. Advertisers, because... Well, they'll have *ALOT* of problems to attract more people, because they would have to put effort into their ads, which is an unacceptable behavior from them.
