Roblox have Been sued and copyrighted a lot for what users have made. It’s now just usual. Roblox controversy has been very often lately. It’s kinda stupid tho. Pretty much every roblox game that released since about 2018+ (about 96% of them) has been copied off of something, or unoriginal stuff that was already on roblox, so is this REALLY that much of a big situation?

Yes and no. Yes because the games are almost identical. No because Roblox has been sued for over 200M already and this is a game where the company doesn't even want to sue or DMCA.

​@@MrrBreast Hypixel Bedwars is widely considered to be inspired by "Eggwars", tho there is much other evidence that eggwars is also inspired. HOWEVER, they did, in fact put quite a lot of twists into their game, such as changing the main objective into breaking beds and adding other modes, as well as team upgrades. As for roblox bedwars, they didn't even bother changing the title, nor the concept of the game.

@@fan0 absolutely not, simulators literally all have pets, copied from pet simulator, and at least 2 or 3 pages of game passes cause simulators are made for the sole purpose of money. A lot of tycoons follow a similar layout too, tho it has more diversity then simulators, plus there’s a lot of original games on roblox, for example Databrawl, you just gotta look for the gems in the garbage dump

islands didnt get sued by hypixel, roblox thought that they were gonna get sued so they shut down the game. Then the owner of hypixel said that they thought it was pretty cool having skyblock on roblox so they let it slide

hey chase, i don't think that the copy having monetization makes this 10 times worse for the reason below: even if the copy does have in-app purchases enabled i'm pretty sure that it's made by a chinese / japanese dev team and i think that microtransactions are disabled there or something (and because china does not allow devex), so the best they can do is just get the robux, since they can't devex it into real money, so while they are able to "profit" off of the copy they can't actually get any real money

i dont think that matters. what matters is the fact that they open an in app purchases in a copy game. when that money that the players spent on star sim could go to the My little Universe Dev instead. i know that the chance of the players actually finding and playing My Little Universe is small. but still. that money that they got could've go to the MLU dev instead. and even if they dont get real money. robux still cost money. so in a way. yes. it does make it worse

You can't sue the developers because they live in china, but Roblox is an american corporation and is legally in the need to take down the game if the creators of MLU ask it to get taken down for legal reasons.

Hypixel didn't threaten them, minecraft did because their licence state all the gamemodes made in minecraft are owned by mojang. Just as a security mesure for cases like these. That's why they changed their name, because gamemode/name skyblock is under minecraft's copyright.

They can't. Its all over the other minecraft servers so they basically stole it. But Hypixel doesn't care. But when Roblox decides to make it they care. This lawsuit will go nowhere. Not Only that they don't own the idea of skyblock or bedwars.

Hypixel actually wasn’t the one to DMCA Islands, hypixel, the owner of Hypixel said that he actually liked that people were making his ideas on Roblox, but no one knows who actually filed the DMCA. Edit: right after posting this I saw the top comment said the exact same thing

I actually finished star simulator 2 days ago and didnt know about this

I'll make the fast. I loved playing skyblock (islands) but had to delete Roblox because of a low grade. I downloaded it again after almost a year but the name became "islands" and I got soooooooooo confused. I just started playing it again and it looked so much different. There were no coin bags and there was a bunch of other stuff, the island became sooo complicated so I had to explore it and get lost a million times. it was so small and simple back then. That's the reason I liked it. There are also too many updates so I couldn't keep up.

Loomian Legacy is a good game inspired by Pokémon but is completely different if you play it. This was also made due to the devs game Pokémon: Brick Bronze getting taken down by Roblox and Pokémon.
