I have been on Roblox for almost 9 years, on and off, I don't log on often anymore. In my 8, almost 9 years I have seen people around my current age (around the 18-19yo mark) date online, at times with minors. It is very real, and very concerning. This platform is hell. It has no future in its current iteration. I'm deeply concerned for the children who use it. I tend to stick to games where I know people are older, and outside those games I do not interact with anyone; to see people of my age doing things like dating online just makes my skin crawl, even more so when it's with children.

@@prplskelly Every platform has those types of people, not just roblox, and roblox can't overly enforce it either since most of it goes on in discord (which can be easily photoshopped). Not like roblox is some sort of omnipotent corporation that allows pedos to roam roblox knowing that they're pedos.

Roblox removes the most harmless things and promotes the most controversial concepts imaginable.

Virtual dating is allready done mostly by kids, because if you are older than 16 you will most likely understand that it's not the right way to live, I can bet that older people dating on roblox are mostly predators or creeps

Coming from an 18 year old, my younger brother (who's 13) falls EASILY for these online dating sites... not to mention ACTUALLY TALKS AND TEXTS TO THEM on the phone! If it's an older person or the *sus kind of "girlfriend", I hop on their pc, and unfriend them. What worries me is my bro may one day stumble into a predator that I cannot simply unfriend and have my brother be stuck in real danger. It's not because there's impossible obstacles between them and a wholesome game, rather that the creators/higher ups of Roblox don't really know what they should be prioritizing. For example, back when there were hackers and even worse, predators, Roblox's Admins were too focused on trying to ban Ruben and make his life misery by pretty much ignoring all logic and just doing what they wanted. Not because Ruben did something bad mind you, but rather he pointed out all the bad things Roblox was doing and ever did! This video was literally ABOUT him doing exactly this. That is why Roblox is never going to get better unless they make some serious changes to their management.

I remember when I joined Roblox, there was a lot of kind people who helped me in games and even introduced me in Roblox and not only that, helped me improve my grammar and make me try amazing games I still play today. But now, i feel like there isnt people like that anymore. It feels like everything is going downhill and its hard to accept it. honestly hope with all these new age related updates it'll allow you to eventually actually change your age through ID and such. since my account was mistakenly put to 2020 for the DOB while my account was a 13+ account i can't even change it back anymore even though previously it was a 13+ account, and i've literally showed them my ID and birth certificate as well as contacted them through my parents confirming my age via support. it's probably one of the most dumbest issues with roblox especially now being the fact that i can't even use vc and i have a chat filter alongside all the other >13 restrictions on my main account. Roblox as an company is just comedic to me. I have prob broken every rule on the TOS and yet I don't get banned or warned at all just because of a few simple methods, but normal plrs such as some of my innocent friends saying certain words like "pog" gets banned for no reason. Prob due to being report spammed, their auto moderation is just easy to bypass. There is so many ways to get someone's account banned or deleted temporarily.

I love vr because it makes shooter games feel so real and fun, but having all of those things strapped onto you at once makes you look like a test subject from the outlast trials

I think the main gist he was getting at was getting into the "metaverse" concept (like, a year after it was dead on arrival and everyone openly ridiculed it), but it was a really crappy idea to include "virtual dating" when one of the main controversies of the platform is grooming and sexual content being on a childrens' gaming platform. And to add on what you said about the metaverse; the entire point of all that control- it's literally just to sell more ads. That's it.

Especially with the amount of Rule 63 and fetish creators, it’s just too risky. That’s practically allowing the worst part of Roblox into your community. Another worst part about this is that most of these people are pedophiles and have met their victims in a Roblox game. TL;DR: Pedos and fetish creators will soon be able to groom more children because of Roblox allowing dating.

It’s sad that roblox is thinking of allowing virtual dating, yet there are many young people in danger, along with many inappropriate games and groups doing this kind of thing. Shame on those people, and roblox actually needs to up their moderation so the platform can be safe and clean again.

To be honest that's not the only thing they have to do. As someone who's been playing ROBLOX for around 8-9 years, ROBLOX has many deeper issues that they fail to address and instead cover up to attract and pander to investors. I miss events too, but there are literal DANGERS that children are being exposed to that aren't being properly dealt with by the Roblox Corporation. Events being taken away and "remodeled" is just a tiny part of a massive problem that surrounds the entire platform.

Was a fan of roblox when i was younger and still enjoy your content. One consistent theme i’ve found with roblox’s development is that they have a complete disconnect between why people play roblox and what they want to add. It seems to me like they’re going down a sort of route where their platform is claiming to offer all these different things to garner hype around roblox stock (come on, news?) while ignoring improving or refining basic features that roblox needs as a platform (moderation, incentivizing developers and creativity, etc.) that would be more difficult to do and garner less hype and attention.

Re-watching this but some of the things you talked about seriously make me think about VR and some of the people that makes it their literal life. It's crazy and kinda sad.

True, thought it was gonna go out like Blockland. But then a bunch of really popular KZreadrs at the time (like DanTDM) made videos on it, and it exploded in popularity. Now ROBLOX basically dominates the market for "children's" video games.

Its really starting to overstay its welcome. I was on roblox since 2009 and still sometimes play today. Its a mess. Games are only going lower in quality over time, and more pay2win. I dont even play anything besides phantom forces anymore simply because almost everything else is just made for rich 8 year olds to burn robux on.

Jesus christ it's called growing up. If you were like 10 years old you would eat up 90% of the stuff roblox puts out. Kids are roblox's main demo. Sorry, but they really don't care about us weird young adults with a crippling nostalgia addiction. This post was just a sad attempt at pandering to people like us, since a marketing guy somewhere was probably like "alright guys we gotta do our annual post mentioning other demographics" Roblox changed. You changed. You're realizing that you and your old friend are now 2 completely different people as time goes on. Nothing lasts forever, there is no need to be so dramatic about it. I'm just happy that I can still go back and play the games of my childhood from roblox and they're like a time capsule, which can't be said for a lot of things.
