I’ve been flying an r44 in Msfs 2020 and i watched so many videos on how to just start it correctly. This is after I just started flying around without a care in the world and my engine stalls and now I’m autorotating and I actually landed safely. Even though I knew it was a sim. 1 it was a night flight 2 it’s in vr so if felt so so real. After that I started looking at sop for the 44. One of things I noticed was I didn’t let the cylinder head temp get in the green. Also I was cruising with the rpm set to 23 flying in Hawaii. I’m practicing now for when I actually start taking lessons

I’m glad you talking about overspeed(s) and the cost. You always hear about overspeed but never some of the details and cost. Interesting the amount the insurance paid. Definitely not like insurance for an auto mobile.

Couple videos and tid bits but, What actually happened? A student rolled the throttle too much, when ? When starting or when doing the "run up". Still have not a clue.

I stated in the video student advanced throttle during start up. New student got out of sequence and I was distracted for a mement and student advanced throttle before I could counteract.

I would think this is a learning experience he might not have gained if it did not happed. And a learning experience for Robinson as well. Perhaps a fuel/engine control to limit revs/overspeed is a need to look into on the manufacturing end. Fadec controls limit fuel. One crash of an experienced pilot was due wind sheer causing lift at altitude and created an overspeed. The engine limited fuel. The important point was that the throttle needed to be manipulated back to idle, then advanced to regain fuel flow. The helicopter lost power and the pilot crashed. The pilot claimed "he did not remember" events prior to the crash and the NTSB did mot find him at fault (shocker there, maybe that's the answer just claim you have no memory). But I wonder 1. Did he know that he actually needed to manipulate the throttle back to idle and then advance it back forward to regain power? 2. And if he didn't know that, did he do it. There was no definitive answer as to what was the "cause " of the crash .

So, I guess when he was rolling up to 75% after startup, he rolled too far? Thanks Kenny

No it was later in the checklist. The point of the entire conversation is to take your time on the checklist step by step. If you get out of sequence. Start over!

It's money not someone's life so yes i agree that all though it's a chunk of change but the fact is no one had to die because of not opening the wallet. This is why you go no go, to live to fly another day. 100%

I struglled in the beginning for every flight hour as well. Worked for pernuts for years as a CFI. I have worked hard for 12 years, much harder than the average person would, to build this buiness and be able to afford operating a helicopter. So you can make your remarks without knowing all the hard work behind the scenes. You missed the point of the video.
