Roberto Duran vs Hiroshi Koboyashi 16.10.1971 (Highlights)

Спорт

Former World Super Featherweight Champion, Hiroshi Koboyashi, tries to get his career back on track against young up and coming Panamanian fighter, Roberto Duran. The veteran, Koboyashi, had only recently lost his World Super Featherweight title just 3 months earlier and a win against an undefeated up and comer would certainly put him back in title contention. He was unknown for way too long. His best fights and best part of his career he was not known or seen in America.

@@jonelllemelle3372 he beat Leonard which Hearns and Hagler never did. Your arguments a bit flawed. He wasn't the best middleweight, or even the best welterweight but Duran was, and may be, the best lightweight champion there ever was. He was stopping people left, right and centre. Look at his hit list, Koboyashi - former Super Featherweight World Champion from 1967-1971, Ken Buchanan - world lightweight champion from 1970-1972 and was only stopped once in 69 fights (guess by who?), Hector Thompson - 2 x Commonwealth Super Lightweight Champiom 1972-1977, Guts Ishimatsu - World Lightweight Champion, Esteban de Jesus - World Lightweight champion, Saoul Mamby - world super lightweight champion, Davy Moore - world super welterweight champion (who was also undefeated until Duran stopped him), Iran Barkley - World middleweight Champion... Just to name few

His win against Leonard was never questionable - Leonard tried to go toe to toe and it was the wrong strategy, he got beat fair and square. Just because Duran lost the re-match when he quit, doesn't diminish his win in the first fight. Plus he beat a whole host of former world or local champions, particularly at lightweight.
