It's why he's so far been the best actor to portray Lord Vetinari in a live action Discworld adaptation (Going Postal -- I thought Jeremy Irons hammed it too much in Colour of Magic).

Charles Dance is about as gangster as an actor can be. His ability to dominate a scene is unmatched.

My favourite actor, Charles Dance. Comes across as one tough, scary mofo but always seems to be smirking like he knows some hidden joke.

Charles himself has a daughter born in 2012. Meaning she is 138 years younger than her grandfather. If she lives to the year 2101 (so to age 88-89), she will be one of the few people alive in the 22nd century with a grandparent born in the 19th century.

Charles Dance is quite an intimidating figure but very handsome (he looks younger than his years) and has a beautiful speaking voice - a genuine skilled performer.
The clue was that he received a letter. Nobody sends letters, anymore.

well, nearly all of them would've been younger, when people did send letters. Like Charles himself. It isn't that long ago. Besides, I could imagine my ex' father doing it. He's kind of snobbish, to put it in writing would be the way to go for him. He wouldn't want to speak to me, is the point, because I'm a commoner. He doesn't have a smart phone and doesn't really use the internet, at least not to communicate in any significant way.

Well on this show they were both on every single episode, given that one is the host and one is a team captain.
When I first moved to London in 2006, Charles Dance was the first celebrity I saw out and about in a Waitrose; I got so flustered, I hid by the bottled water section until he paid for his shopping and left 😆
Charles Dance is a majestic man.
Charles' father wasn't from the 30's, he was born in 1874

Well, it was the girlfriend's father he said was from the 30s. If he was born 1946 and his then girlfriend was similar then her father would have been more likely to have been young in the 30s. But if he was way off that would just make it worse, that Robert was looking for a date to say 'long long ago' and he actually didn't go back nearly far enough.
Charles Dance stole the show in every scene he was in, in GoT. The show was never quite as good without him.
I love Charles he's very charismatic and a wonderful actor

@Paul the 1990 TV movie series of The Phantom of the Opera is the first role I ever saw him in. Instant fan right off the bat. This man's performance abilities are off the charts! You could cast him in legit anything & it would be award worthy.

I think he was more amused than seriously offended but playing it up because it was so fun to watch Robert Webb squirm and stumble and dig deeper.
Robert Webb is great here but the way Mickey Flanagan trumps him with 'he got down really well, there' is a masterclass in stealing the punchline!
I wouldn't be so joyous with Tywin Lannister staring me down like that.
