    I first saw the Boston Patriots in 1968 at BC. They played Namath's Jets on their way to NFL immortality. Jerry Philbin, a RI kid and my Uncle Jim's friend, got us tickets. For so many years, except for a precious few seasons, it was hard to be a Pats fan. Drew Bledsoe and Robert Kraft changed that. We thank you.

    Thanks Drew for making the 1990s for me: what a great decade for a lifelong Pats fan (born in Framingham, Mass., in 1971). Our family moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1985 and therefore we left the NE area: but we discovered Ohio state football. My sister went on to get her graduate degree at Purdue and now is a tenured professor at Ohio State. My mother got her master's at Ohio State, and I did my graduate studies at Penn State. I remember Terry Glenn at Ohio State and how phenomenal he was. To have him then go to play with you and the Patriots was special, making the decade a really fun one. I was sad, as many were, to learn of the tragic news. Seeing you with Mr. Kraft drinking wine in your hometown reminds me that some things transcend, like friendships that last decades. Cheers and the very best wishes to you and your family.

    Drew Bledsoe does not get a fraction of the credit that he deserves in New England. Without him, football in this area would not exist. Gillette Stadium would be a bowling alley. Pro football around here was an absolute joke before he got here. Without what Drew Bledsoe did to turn things around here, there would be no Tom Brady (at least not here), no championships, no football. He deserves so much credit for what exists here and sadly he probably will never get it and that is a real shame.

    @@icyhotmike Forget Brett Favre, GB had the #1 Defense as well. Drew and Brett were the same QB - after that SB, Favre ended his team's season with a bad INT every single year. But I know Drew's history. I also know his 3 coaches with the Patriots won 9 Super Bowls with 4 QBs not named Drew. And that Pittsburgh game was a perfect summation of Drew. Got some production but he also almost gave the game away with some horrible passes, one dropped for an easy pick 6. I was a huge Drew fan but now I just think of him cringing away from Brady as Tom tried to celebrate SB 36 win with him. Like what does he need credit for? Remember when he ignored Carroll's T.O. call on 4th Down in 98? Sure he made the First but he f'd over his coach because he clearly didn't respect him. Let me ask you today, should Drew Bledsoe have respected Pete Carroll as a coach? When Belichick came in that was "Drew's Team." And they were soft, entitled, and they were never gong to win anything. After that Carroll / Timeout play? Drew never led an NFL team to the playoffs again over 8 seasons.

  • @HerptasticVideo

    @HerptasticVideo

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@icyhotmike Drew made 2 mistakes with the Boston media. A) I thought they were human beings with souls and B) he comically thought they had any idea about what they were talking about. So when the genius Boston sports media decided Pete Carroll was a clown who had no business coaching a football team they convinced Drew of the same thing. They did the same thing with Jimy Williams, remember? His first press conference they decided he was a dumb rube in over his head. He, like Belichick, like Carroll, made them all look like fools. Because that's easy to do to fools. Boston sports media is not only ignorant about the sports the report on but they actively try to hurt our teams. I saw a clip of some local TV news dweeb asking players if cutting Milloy lessened their chance to win games and then telling Belichick "Well, some of your players think you've lessened their chances to win games." He put the words in their mouths and then told the coach the players are saying it. And Drew bought into all their bull crap because they decided he was the way to win a Super Bowl - those morons decided that. Remember the drug scandal that followed the first Super Bowl after the 85 season? Became a national news story. Why? As a 17-year-old I smoked pot in my living room with one of the stars of that Pats super bowl team. It wasn't a problem, trust me. Carrie Fischer walked around with a Coke Nail visible in every picture she took in the 1980s but it was a problem for the Patriots. Why? Because the racist, moronic, garbage Boston press didn't like the "uppity" Patriots thinking they were any good so they decided to knock them down a peg. As a fan, did you want them to do that? I didn't! I wanted to keep smoking blunts with NFL players in my livingroom. I still think that's pretty cool. Remember Margo Adams and Wade Boggs? Why did consensual sex between adults become a national news story for over a year? Because he was a Hall of Fame hitter playing in Boston, I guess. Serves him right for succeeding at his chosen profession - he needed to be destroyed, obviously. Sorry for the rant about the Boston media but it ties in with Drew and his disrespect for Carroll and, presumably, his inability to throw a check down pass when Bill Belichick tells you to.
