Ойын-сауық

Sculpting the best possible physique has been a life long journey. Learning from the best makes this process that much more exciting. Today I had the honor to sit down and talk with the Black Prince of Bodybuilding, Mr. Robby Robinson. He shares his story about about the bronze bust that is the main symbol of the Weider empire. That is CRAZY! I never heard that story. But I clearly remember my reaction to seeing that Weider bust and wondering who's body that was. I assumed (like I'm sure most fans at that time) that it was an imaginary rendition. For a guy that never wanted to recognize or compensate blacks, he sure did enjoy stealing from them. I guess that's what racism looks like in commerce.

    You should read Robbys first book. It's really good. And read Dan Luries "Heart Of Steel." Tells alot about Joe snd his brother. Very shrewd and dishonest business practices. Joe did some very dishonest and just "not cool" things. He really took advantage of pretty much everyone and only gave himself credit for everyone else's hard work and ideas. There's not "kne" training idea that Joe invented. All those Weider training principles came from the pros. Also, Joe never had more than a swimmers body at best.

  • @_theAuthority

    @_theAuthority

    @@little_rascal The connection to Jesus is a likeness being stolen and altered, just as Robby's was stolen and altered. The keyword is not 'industry' since an industry, albeit the bodybuilding industry, is not a synonym for being exploited, you may invariably say that all industries exploit, which would not be true. A company in an industry making a profit is not necessarily exploiting its workers. Anyway, as an adult - I don't need you to speak for what I should and should not be shocked by. I would think the scenario of priests and children would shock an adult no matter how many times they hear it but in any case I used the word 'fascinated' which is quite different. I am fascinated by the fact that you don't think priests abusing children should not shock an adult, it says more about you than I think you would wish to reveal on the internet. Good day.

    It was widely acknowledged even before Joe Weider's death that he borrowed Robby Robinson's likeness. I may have even read that in a Weider mag myself back in the day. What is being shared in this interview is not some outlandish conspiracy theory.

    Yeah,..and it shouldn't be a big deal. Robby served as a model for a sculture. Lots of people stand in as models. Robby doesn't like to mention that he worked for Weider. He likes to spin things to make himself sound like the sympathetic character we see and hear in these interviews. Just like his scicle cell anemia..he doesn't have it a full blow case. It is mild.

    As teenagers, we all agreed that Joe Weider's physique NEVER looked as good as that bust! lol! Late '80s and early '90s, we'd seen some photos of the Joe Weider physique both as the older man that he was and when he was young. He really was a PT Barnum-type salesman, wasn't he?! I did see it mentioned a few times over the years that Robby Robinson was the model for the iconic bust.

    I remember this. I bought those magazines every month until the 80 and 81 Olympia's. It was obviously Robby's body. Weider used bodybuilders to make his fortune. But really, to have your face put on another man's body. Pretty pathetic. Robby is the real man!

    I so sorry you got dis rejected in the corporate world and have since graduated to the mountain pass. I once hiked over two mountain passes 14,000 feet high and ran into 4 Billy goats, high HIGH above the tree line. I did not see the Joe Weider bust up there that's when I realized it's all an illusion we buy into UNTIL that is, we go over the mountain pass and see new horizons. And what did I personally see when I got to the top of the mountain? A mountain far in the distance even higher with a 400' foot tall statue of none other than Joe Weider himself, doing an iron cross. What the hell was up with that?? I'll tell you what's up with that. Joe Weider's massive ego on full display, wanting to be an immortal. What's up with THAT?? I'll tell you what's up with that. Joe Weider wanting to be the king of the world 🌎

    Without Muscle and Fitness 90% of the people training today would have remained couch potatoes. Let that sink in as to the over all value Weider created in the fitness realm. Half of those 90%ers would already be using walkers, and the other half in the grave. Now let THAT sink in. Weider was a good man who made millions of people great, thus making himself an immortal. 💪

    @@quantumpotential7639 So the end justifies the means? How about his efforts to monopolize the industry? How much damage did he do in that regard? All of the other magazines that didn’t last, the other organization’s that WOULD have helped body building grow in popularity and given all of the athletes another means of income. Competition is never a bad thing unless you’re a power hungry and greedy devil. He used his influence to keep his foot on the back of other peoples necks. He only showed respect to those that he could benefit from. Think about THAT instead of giving credit to a narcissistic despot.

    @@quantumpotential7639 That’s a pretty absurd perspective. Were it not for his narcissistic and egotistical personality and monopoly over the industry there would have been other organizations so the guys that he screwed over could have made money elsewhere. Let THAT sink in. He was a scrawny, manipulative, compulsive liar. Stories like this one of the bust, and him taping a picture of his head on pictures of body builders bodies and framing them in his office is a clear sign of his delusions. But by all means, continue giving praise to a chiseler. It’s a good indication of your personality and moral compass.
