@@BestArtist I would say they are both losers. I agree with you. Robbo is being a baby and his galley show had lame paintings. But Bansky did clearly steal most of his early ideas from Blek le rat. Then he just went fuill Andy Warhol after that, having people create pieces and put them up. No real true artist winner here. IMO take care

Everyone has kind of underestimated robbo. A majority of people say he just paints his name and that is all. When he did the Zoe kravitz free hand painting, that just shows how talented he is and what more the man could do. RIP Robbo. The Banksy Tribute to Robbo that's under the bridge now is one of the most sincere pieces of art I think I've ever seen.

Robbo was a great fella. Used to meet in the Angel for a drink and a catch up. We were Chelsea and he was Arsenal. A proper gent .

Comparing graffiti to stencil is like comparing a guitar player to a producer. It's two different things although both is art/music.

Banksy is like the living embodiment of gentrification, friendly reminder his net worth is around $20 million dollars. The whole idea of Banksy vs. Robbo is that graffiti communities have careful rules, and Bansky disregards these rules and does what he pleases, and then profits off of it. Robbo tried to be an original, and in the end he had hopes of making money from his art and commissions, not from tagging.

+Kelsie Lane And Banksy doesn't sell his art or prints. He lets people download them for free and greedy fucks sell them, but he doesn't stop them. Success doesn't mean you're great, but you're portraying his success as if it's evidence he's lesser (while lying, to boot).

The only people that don’t think it’s art is rich politicians who have never had to spray/paint anything in their cushy lives... Spray painting or painting in general is super difficult, let alone doing different shading and blocking like they do.. It’s incredible! Awesome show, thanks for sharing!!!

6:49 the longer I look at this piece, the more I realised how amazing the piece is. I just started doing graffiti, so I'm not sure if other pro's could do this. But the way the colours blend, the shadowing and the yellow background just sounds beyond difficult! Imagine the adrenalin rush Robbo must had. Respect for King Robbo!

I am from The Netherlands and just am below the 2 meters but have friends, who are even younger then me haha, who are even taller then Robbo. Being lare must have advantages for things like climbing, jumping thing. But also a disadvantage in terms of being unnoticed. Especially he did a looot without stencils! I think he did in a/this docu but nothing fancy like Banksy, more something like 'f*ck Banksy'.

KING ROBBO.... a man of integrity and ingenuity... his spirit lives on and within graffiti writers EVERYWHERE.. GLOBAL

nguyen danny banksy painted all over an ICONIC piece, dating back to the 80s when graffiti was booming, effectively destroying one of the oldest graffiti pieces ever. Hell, painting over ANYONE'S art is a huge dick move. So no, Robbo didn't get "butt hurt" easily. He had every right to be mad. By that logic, Banksy was being immature too when he responded. Also, "good street art" is subjective. I think Banksy's shit is just that; shit. He has some nice pieces but most have been plagiarized.

nguyen danny It wasn't damaged, it was COMPLETELY PAINTED OVER. Do you not understand the significance of a 30 year old graffiti piece? It's like if someone painted over the Mona Lisa(*not comparing Robbo to da vinci, they are miles apart in talent, just for the sake of an example*) and you just told the artist to "recreate it". The sentiment is gone, it's not the same and doesn't hold the same value.

As an art major myself, it always hurts to see art damaged that has taken hours to create. Banksy painting over Robbo's work was more than a dick move. By painting over the last remaining work, he destroyed the entire history of Robbo, making it almost like he didn't exist until he came back out of his retirement. He wasn't "butt hurt" by any means. What gets me the most is that Banksy's art is considered public art now, whereas Robbo was doing his work illegally. Bansky can now free hand though he chooses to continue stenciling.

I remember watching this documentary when I was little, was very fascinated by this ‘war’. Just found out Robbo died in 2014, madness

This documentary has one of the maddest plot twists I’ve ever seen, had me thinking about for a like a week after i saw it for the first time

Graff writers live the life style and live by codes and rules the same way any culture does. Robbo is one of the very first people to bring the culture to London from new York. That's literally god status in graffiti art.

Banksy with his satire art world that caters to middle school art teachers. Banksy is a corporation or a collective of artist that make pop art or "anti"pop art. so edgy but soccer moms can't turn away.

Robbo has amazing character, and is an amazing artist. Banksy covering Robbo's art and Robbo laughs, so full confidence, so strong and passionate, he is amazing not letting Banksy get that last laugh and I hope he wakes up soon enough to do it. Because King Robbo is worth it, and a great man. Get up soon Robbo, Your kids, fans, and promoters would surely love to see you up and adem.

This is essentially the same thing as Rothko vs. Pollock but it's with street art. It's a really great deep dive into what made both artists great. It's just unfortunate they can't see the greatness in each other because of how devoted to their techniques they are.

the Camden Robbo mural was painted over with a black and white depiction of the original with the additions of a crown and a can of spray paint with a hazard symbol of a flame above it. It was done by Banksy as "a tribute to him and as an effort to end the feud in a sense of lighting a candle for Robbo who was still in comatose condition"

I can see from both sides. Robbo didn't need to put Banksy on blast, even if it was true. Because at the end of the day they both know what happened. But on the same ticket Banksy didn't have to do that to his piece. He could've dissed him in another way. But with that being said I understand why Banksy went back and showed his respects. I mean after beefing for that long you gain a certain respect or maybe even a liking to each other. It's like batman and joker. They needed each other. Robbo went to the fullest extent and bombed internationally and was widely respected. Every graff artist strides for that. But also Banksy even though he was doing stencils got to the point where his city went as far as to preserve his art. That is also something I would personally love. Because graff is temporary. Just a major fact in graff. Your work will either get buffed or get ragged on by another graff artist. And if you can get paid for what you love to do then aye. Do your damned thing. Regardless I feel as the graff community we needed them both. Respect to Banksy and r.i.p robbo. You both are legends and im super glad to have witnessed the two of you, even if it was beef.

I agree with most of what you say, but I find it funny when people say that stencils are cheating, or aren't as hard. Stencils and freehand graffiti are just two closely related artforms, and only very talented artists do either one well. I think both are true art. Just as classical music and rock and roll are two related artforms. Some people only acknowledge one or the other, some claim that Rock isn't true art, but it's easy to see that both are valid forms of art, that can be beautiful and moving when performed by virtuosos. "Of all the walls in London." Way I see that wall. That is something special. A place where both artists could express themselves in a for/against/neither statements. When on Earth will the Tate or MOMA just start sending CEX trains across the Americas with a portable gallery on the sides? Beats staring at iron gates for 20 minutes waiting for them trains to pass RIP King Robbo.

In Melbourne we celebrate street art (including writing), we have a lot of places in the CBD where you can paint legally, artists travel all around the world to paint here. This is pretty interesting to watch.

If you like Banksy then I've got some great "art" for sale that my 6 year old niece made in her coloring book, she was even able to color inside the lines without using a stencil #TeamRobbo

Robbo & Banksy are very different artists so there is no comparison to be made ! The feud was theirs and theirs alone . Now the real genius was Blek le Rat 👍🏻 way before his time and good on the French for recognising this street art as street art back in the day ❤️ is Banksy a copycat ? Yes for application and execution only , his depictions are his own .

Shawn Clover ...... you are absolutely right.. He is a very talented Artist.. But that doesn’t mean he’s a good person. Nor did he respect the Graffiti culture and it’s unspoken rules.

I love the message/perspective on this special. Thank god it sided against Banksy (notorious prick), and gave Robbo a proper underdog framing. It is, however, hilariously over-produced and dramatized in a way that is really out of touch and in direct opposition to the ethos of every graf writer I've ever met.

Fascinating documentary made even more fascinating by all the fascinating comments....

Writing and street are different entitites. Different rules apply. The media keeps on trying to blend the two together. Give it up, real writers will always be around. Believe that.

The irony of a guy saying "graffiti is all about knicking paint, destruction and free hand painting" and can't take it when it's one of his pieces being destroyed.

All that robbo does is tag his name. Banksy actually has meaning behind his artwork.

people should really respect both banksy and robbo, because they are both brilliant artist's

THEY DIDN´T SHOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN THE WAR BETWEEN THEM BOTH!!! In the end, Banksy has restored the graffiti of robbo to show him respect after all.

@@SrTorradeira In the movie I didn't see the one where Banksy repainted a monochrome version of the original 1985 Robbo, with a spray can candle. He did this while Robbo was laying in the hospital in a coma. I thought that was really respectful..
