I thought Guy Chambers was the main writer of this song but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if additional uncredited songwriters worked on this song. Williams certainly wouldn’t have written it.

I am an American who has been in England in 1998. I remember seeing the Angels video(also in black and white) soon after my arrival and not getting into the song. And the same goes for most of his other songs. But lately I've enjoying his music in a retro sort of way. Didn't realise it was Daryl Hannah in the video until a few minutes ago when I googled the song. Not sure why but I always knew he wouldn't catch on in the USA.

When I was a young boy, 4-5 years old, my family wasn’t very rich. My mother didn’t have many cds, but one she had was a Robbie Williams CD. Every night she’d play his hits. This one especially. Hearing this song takes me back to my childhood, dancing to Robbie Williams music, making my parents happy during tough times. Robbies music will always have a special place in my heart.

as each year goes by I realize this is truly one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Every line is profound. the production is astounding. Robbies vocals are absolute fire. The video is the classy cherry on the cake. It also crosses music genres in such a genius way.

This is motivation

I was going through some tough stuff when this came out. I was 27, really not in a happy place, pretty desperate, in a relationship with a narcissist, who drove my mental health into a dark place. This song summed up where I was in life. Thankfully I’m in a good place now. So to anybody reading this in a dark place in their life, hang on in there, time passes, things don’t stay the same, and you will find light in your life. ❤
