Oscar obviously loved him, but not the way he wanted to. But you can't force love on someone. But he was involved with another man for 15 years, but he was still devoted to Oscar and would do anything for him. Some people believe that Robbie was his first (is just a rumor, Robbie denied), but we can observe that Oscar kept coming back to homoerotic themes as a young man. And his relationship with Frank (Bosie claims that Oscar apparently confessed to him that he had his first time with Frank at Oxford) and the meeting with Whitman. But what I wanted to say is that Robbie was obviously the first gay man in his life to be so open and accepting of his own sexuality. Robbie sort of introduced him to the gay subculture. Actually, since Robbie, Oscar has started to accept himself and I think he changed Oscar's life.
