I'm lucky to be one of the first people to hear this wonderful tune. Then i might be at an advantage, because I was the programmer of the game. I think there was more than one version, was a while ago. I need to check the source code to check.. Rob Indeed did wonders with the SID chip. And the CPU raster time to have during game play was not possible with the sprite multiplexor.

I bought this game when it was released on cassette, it received maximum reviews on a Finnish gaming magazine, 10 10 10 graphics coding music... it was smooth like anything Stavtos Fasoulas did, congratulations - you did amazing job.

Very happy to hear this. I just looked at the source code, and I can't find if I made a cheat, seems was not. plus it was 1987 so memory little flakey even with the code in front unsure of it!!!

Rob Hubbard=Pure talent. His tunes shapened my music taste. I believe his compositions will linger in my brain even when I will be 80 and unable to remember my own name. Influential+unforgettable. Commando, International Karate, Nemesis the Warlock and many others... This guy is a genius.

This was one of the few games EVER to score full 10 / 10 / 10 (game, graphics, sound) in a legendary computer magazine Mikrobitti in Finland back in the day of release. Another one I remember reaching that achievement was Bionic Commando.. and Amiga's Cadaver. Oh well, anyways!

+In lulz we trust 2015 I think it's just kind of an infectious sound that transcends time. The SID Chip inside the C64 was very unique and still is used today in electronic music. We had a Commodore 128 back in the 80s so I grew up on this sound.

If this is your thing check out the HVSC (high voltage SID collection) It has every C64 SID tune ever made pretty much, and more added with every update (about every six months or so) because people are still making tunes for the C64 via demos and whatnot) Just make sure you have a player that's capable of playing SID tunes (or download one of the many SID players on the HVSC website if you want to play SUBTUNES as many game sids have subtunes.

I Remember playing this game on and off back in the 80s. I never quite figured out how to proceed from one level to the next, but i liked the animations which where actually good at the time, and the dark setting. These elaborate HUDs/UIs were rare back then aswell, which gave it some unique flavor. I never waited around long enough on the title screen to appreciate this song though. Started the game within 10 secs, everytime. I am glad i found this now, the song was so much better than i imagined, once you get into it. Epic nostalgic memory for me, this game.

I know this music from my childhood.I still love it and I am still amazed at the level of inspiration and skill that went into creating this astonishing music. In addition, anyone who was seriously programming the CMB64 in the assembly language acknowledges the almost magical abilities of the machine.I started programming it in 87 when I was 16 and all the time I'd come across new ways of pushing the envelope of this great machine through demos and games. It was a truly exciting time in my life.

I was going to comment on this tune, having juts blundered into it, only to discover I already did. This time I was gong to say how there's a thread running through this piece combining the ideas of both what a colossal responsibility and what an immense tragedy it is to be a creature that just kills all its life. There's no real good and evil to it, it's just it's purpose. There's also refrain which suggests this isn't such a bad life when you think about it. A truly beautiful piece of music.

Music was programmed into the game after the main code was poked in, and depending on how much was left they really had to go out of their way to make it fit. But you are right about the positions, I think Hubbard was mostly left with 10K at most :)

@brewcakes Not even 1.44 megs. As I recall, this game took less than half of a Commodore 1541 diskette... which only held 170 kb. That was back in the days when the focus was on gameplay, not on "Ooh, look at what I can do with a $400 video card, 4 gigs of RAM, and 15 gigs of hard drive space." Also, publishers were more willing to experiment with a new franchise instead of throwing out sequel after sequel.
