I'm lucky to be one of the first people to hear this wonderful tune. Then i might be at an advantage, because I was the programmer of the game. I think there was more than one version, was a while ago. I need to check the source code to check.. Rob Indeed did wonders with the SID chip. And the CPU raster time to have during game play was not possible with the sprite multiplexor.

I Remember playing this game on and off back in the 80s. I never quite figured out how to proceed from one level to the next, but i liked the animations which where actually good at the time, and the dark setting. These elaborate HUDs/UIs were rare back then aswell, which gave it some unique flavor. I never waited around long enough on the title screen to appreciate this song though. Started the game within 10 secs, everytime. I am glad i found this now, the song was so much better than i imagined, once you get into it. Epic nostalgic memory for me, this game.

I was going to comment on this tune, having juts blundered into it, only to discover I already did. This time I was gong to say how there's a thread running through this piece combining the ideas of both what a colossal responsibility and what an immense tragedy it is to be a creature that just kills all its life. There's no real good and evil to it, it's just it's purpose. There's also refrain which suggests this isn't such a bad life when you think about it. A truly beautiful piece of music.

Music was programmed into the game after the main code was poked in, and depending on how much was left they really had to go out of their way to make it fit. But you are right about the positions, I think Hubbard was mostly left with 10K at most :)

@brewcakes Not even 1.44 megs. As I recall, this game took less than half of a Commodore 1541 diskette... which only held 170 kb. That was back in the days when the focus was on gameplay, not on "Ooh, look at what I can do with a $400 video card, 4 gigs of RAM, and 15 gigs of hard drive space." Also, publishers were more willing to experiment with a new franchise instead of throwing out sequel after sequel.

I listened to this on SIDPlayer (iPhone) and it creeped me out; The main reason it does is becaues that warbling sound sounds like a 16-bit effect, instead of an 8-bit one, imo! Also the character depicted in the featured cover, looks lots like the MDK main character.

played this game the cover creeped me out and the high sound tata tatata when something came up out of soldiers body hahah. Lol i was 10 years or so...omg so many memories...and the sound tracks at that time...sublime.
C64 still alive! Musik zum träumen...
I have a slightly sped up version on cassette somewhere. Got it through some old school hackers of 64 music. Great tune!
What a great C64 conversion of (in parts) the soundtrack from "The Long Good Friday". :)
I think I want this to be played on my funeral.
I could loop this forever... Just marvellous!
used to love this game
if i play the game in the 80's, you only hear about 20 seconds then you start the game. one time i left the room and hear the rest of the song from the distance...epic - i love it!!
A classic off, and I feel the origin of the Unicorn Medley for Transformers the Movie.
for some weird reason this song makes me feel sad. But at the same time I adore it.
Music was programmed into the game after the main code was poked in, and depending on how much was left they really had to go out of their way to make it fit. But you are right about the positions, I think Hubbard was mostly left with 10K at most :)
Toute la musique de mon adolescence, trop bons souvenirs et toujours un Rob Hubbard incomparable ^^
Epic and nostalgic track. The game was hard as balls. I never could beat the 4 or 5 stage, i couldn't find the damned exit lol.
Codex installer xD

Omg, he came back, lol
It sounds even more epic with a bit of EQ, filter and reverb :)
Rob Hubbard, Jeroen Tel and Chris Huelsback
Thx for sharing !
Hero. And I mean Rob.
The sound of the zombies being blasted by the heavy gun was truly awesome!
Genius.
1:01 This bit is in a *_LOT_* keygens from over the years...
No problem! Glad you like it.
the O2 remix is fabulous
@brewcakes Not even 1.44 megs. As I recall, this game took less than half of a Commodore 1541 diskette... which only held 170 kb. That was back in the days when the focus was on gameplay, not on "Ooh, look at what I can do with a $400 video card, 4 gigs of RAM, and 15 gigs of hard drive space." Also, publishers were more willing to experiment with a new franchise instead of throwing out sequel after sequel.
Awesome tune. One of Hubbard's best, alongside One Man AHD, Monty on the Run, Zoids and Master of Magic.
6:00 is one of my fave parts. Awesome final sequence.

All hail the mighty SID!! and ALL HAIL SIR ROB HUBBARD!!!
Awesome track!
Written by Aliens. No human being can compose such a masterpiece! ^^
Great track.
Holy hell. I have no idea if the game itself is any good... but this tune alone makes it worth buying. Even almost 25 years on.
AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rob Hubbard is a legend!!!!
Love this music!
With 3 channels, he made magic!
nemesis.... what a badass....
i agree..great memories
Amazing music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
peyser you are my hero! more than 20 years that i did'nt hear this masterpiece!
One of the best tunes from a computer game ever
I downloaded an excellent remix by I don't know who, but anyway it captured the whole essence of "Nemesis the Warlock" Great music for driving, exercising or whatever
I listened to this on SIDPlayer (iPhone) and it creeped me out; The main reason it does is becaues that warbling sound sounds like a 16-bit effect, instead of an 8-bit one, imo! Also the character depicted in the featured cover, looks lots like the MDK main character.
I was born In 1984, but not before now. I have started to play C64 and amiga games. I sure have missed out alot on the good stuff! but at least Im back on the right track now ;)
I find something so fascinating about commodore 64 music, even though i'm not from that time
They didn't even know how EPIC this would sound in like 30 or mb more years
Only drunken lullaby by Rob Hubbard that was gently interrupted by the police. They liked it as it sounded on a street.
Wauw, I loved this game (and musik) when I was 15 :-)
I love the SID chip!
when the music is better than the game, the talent is obvious
this is in my opinion the first c64 games to have good music
Rob rules!!!
Great!
Such an awesome track, no big surprise coming from RH but to me this is especially melodic and well put together. Never actually played the game though, will rectify that the next time I'm wondering what to play.
Pure adrenaline!!!
WARHAMMER Fantasy Battles + Judge Dredd + Nemesis The Warlock= WARHAMMER 40,000
There is soul inside this music masterpiece. You can't find it in todays game music.

vidura in installation fallout 4 by rg freedom you will hear that music
Really nice modern remix if you google for nemesis the warlock o2 ...and just follow the links. Starts off sounding like it's going to be too soft and underplayed, but then kicks it up a gear for a blistering second half. I liked it so much I put it on my iPod!
I love this music. But man i was this part 6:01 was longer its so soothing and relaxing.

Exactly :) good one there as well. Its just amazing.
This is my all time favourite C64 music. Shame the game was utter tripe. I used to load this just to listen to the music. Now I can load the sid file directly on my real C64 using the 1541U+ :-) Happy days,
It's too late to apologize... Now you cannot unhear it. You're welcome. ^_~
so cool
